2020-present: Associate professor in Pharmaceutical Botany – Department of Pharmacy, University of Salerno
2008-2020: Assistant professor in Pharmaceutical Botany – Department of Pharmacy, University of Salerno
2008 Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences – Department of Pharmacy, University of Salerno
2004: Second level Master in Cosmetic Science and Technology
2002: Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Pharmacy - Department of Pharmacy, University of Salerno
Research Activities:
The research activity of Dr. Mencherini focused on the chemical, biological and technological study of phytoextracts obtained from medicinal and edible plants or from waste biomass / by-products, deriving from the collection and / or industrial transformation of agri-food products, with the 'goal to develop functional ingredients for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and nutraceutical sector.
The research conducted can be divided into different lines:
- development of extracts from plant matrices, the isolation and / or qualitative-quantitative chemical characterization by means of chromatographic techniques and NMR of secondary metabolites; evaluation of the bioactivity of pure extracts or metabolites in chemical systems (eg free radical scavenging by DPPH, ABTS);
- development of qualitative / quantitative analysis methods for quality control and preparatory to the development of stable and functional micro and nanoparticulate polymer / active plant formulations, for applications in nutraceutical and pharmaceutical products
- design and development of cosmetic formulations with natural ingredients, evaluation of chemical-physical and in vivo functional efficacy.
