Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE THE BASIC TOOLS FOR READING AND INTERPRETATION OF EPIGRAPHIC ETRUSCAN DOCUMENTS. THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO CLASSIFY INSCRIPTIONS, IDENTIFYING GEOGRAPHICAL, CHRONOLOGICAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXTS. HE WILL ALSO PROVIDE APPROPRIATE EXPLANATIONS DURING VISITS TO EXCAVATIONS AND MUSEUMS.

THE COURSE INTRODUCES THE STUDY OF ETRUSCAN LANGUAGE THROUGH READING AND DISCUSSION OF EPIGRAPHIC DOCUMENTS OF VARIOUS TEXTUAL TIPOLOGIES.THE FIRST PART EXAMINES THE ALPHABET, THE WRITING AND LANGUAGE; THE SECOND IS DEVOTED TO READING AND COMMENTING TEXTS.

STUDENT PREPARATION STUDENT IS EVALUATED BY MEANS OF ORAL EXAM AT THE END OF THE COURSE.
THE STUDENT MUST HAVE ACQUIRED THE ESSENTIALS OF ETRUSCAN LANGUAGE AND EPIGRAPHY, SHOWING ABILITY TO READ, TRANSLATION AND GEOGRAPHICAL CLASSIFICATION OF EPIGRAPHIC TEXTS INDICATED IN THE PROGRAM.
