Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO OFFER THE STUDENT A BASIC PREPARATION ON THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL DOCUMENTATION OF THE ETRUSCAN-ITALIC WORLD OF CAMPANIA, CONSIDERED IN ITS VARIOUS MANIFESTATIONS.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING (DESCRIPTOR 1) THE COURSE AIMS TO TRANSFER TO THE STUDENT THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN PHENOMENA AFFECTING OF CAMPANIA.
SPECIFICALLY, THE STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO:
- IDENTIFY THE FUNDAMENTAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL EVIDENCE OF CAMPANIA, PLACING THEM CORRECTLY IN RELATION TO THE HISTORICAL, TOPOGRAPHICAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXT OF ANCIENT ITALY;
- UNDERSTAND THE ARTISTIC AND CRAFT EVENTS PRODUCED IN THE MAIN CENTERS OF OF CAMPANIA.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING (DESCRIPTOR 2)THE TOOLS PRESENTED IN THE COURSE WILL ALLOW THE STUDENT TO:
- DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO IDENTIFY AND FRAME, IN THEIR HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXT, THE MATERIAL PRODUCTIONS OF OF CAMPANIA;
- IDENTIFY THE MOST SUITABLE METHODOLOGICAL TOOLS FOR READING THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL DOCUMENT AS A TOOL FOR HISTORICAL INTERPRETATION.
AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT (DESCRIPTOR 3) THE STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO:
- SELECT AND PROCESS THE INFORMATION ACQUIRED FOR THE READING AND INTERPRETATION OF THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL DOCUMENT, WHICH YOU CAN USE IN WORKING CONTEXTS CONSISTENT WITH THE LEVEL OF TRAINING AND AS A BASIS FOR MORE ADVANCED TRAINING;
- TO PROPOSE A CORRECT CHRONOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION OF THE MATERIAL PRODUCTIONS, TO IDENTIFY THEM DURING EXCAVATIONS OR VISITS TO MUSEUMS, TO ILLUSTRATE THEM TO AN AUDIENCE DIVIDED BY LEVELS.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS (DESCRIPTOR 4) THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO HOLD CONVERSATIONS ON SPECIFIC TOPICS BY MAKING USE OF ADEQUATE SCIENTIFIC TERMINOLOGY AND USEFUL BIBLIOGRAPHIC TOOLS, EVEN IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE.
LEARNING ABILITY (DESCRIPTOR 5) THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- USE BIBLIOGRAPHIC TOOLS, BOTH TRADITIONAL AND DIGITAL RESOURCES
- DEEPEN THE TOPICS COVERED USING DIFFERENT BIBLIOGRAPHIC SOURCES;
- CARRY OUT RESEARCH ACTIVITIES IN DIFFERENT CONTEXTS ON WHICH TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE.
Prerequisites
IT IS RECOMMENDED TO ATTEND THE COURSE AFTER PASSING THE EXAMINATION OF ARCHAEOLOGY AND HISTORY OF GREEK AND ROMAN ART.
Contents
THE COURSE INTENDS TO FORM A BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE ARCHAEOLOGY OF CAMPANIA, FROM THE EARLY AGE OF IRON TO THE CAMPANI AND SANNITI (NINTH-THIRD CENTURY BC).
THE FOLLOWING TOPICS WILL BE DEVELOPED:
THE LANDSCAPE AND THE GEOGRAPHICAL NOTION OF ANCIENT CAMPANIA. THE REGION'S POPULATION IN THE EARLY IRON AGE: THE “VILLANOVAN”, THE FOSSAKULTUR AND THE HIRPINIAN FACIE OF “OLIVETO CITRA-CAIRANO”. CONTACT WITH THE GREEKS. THE ORIENTALIZING PERIODO: THE "PRINCELY" TOMBS. ARCHAIC URBANIZATION AND ETRUSCAN CAMPANIA. CAMPANIANS AND SAMNITES.
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE INCLUDES LECTURES DURING WHICH WILL BE EXAMPLE READINGS OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL DOCUMENTS, COMMENTS OF PLANTS AND PLANS, ALSO WITH THE AID OF POWER-POINT AND IMAGES THAT WILL BE DISTRIBUTED TO STUDENTS.
Verification of learning
THE ASSESSMENT IS ASSIGNED TO A FINAL ORAL TEST, WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE WITH THE SUPPORT OF PHOTOGRAPHIC DOCUMENTS (POWER-POINT) AND PLANTS. THE TEST WILL AIM TO VERIFY THE STUDENT'S ABILITY TO DESCRIBE THE MAIN PHENOMENA THAT INTERESTED THE PRE-ROMAN CAMPANIA AND FRAME THE MAIN ARCHAEOLOGICAL DOCUMENTS.
WILL BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT:
- THE QUALITY OF THE EXPOSURE, IN TERMS OF USE OF APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE
- THE SKILL OF TRANSVERSAL CORRELATION BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT TOPICS OF THE COURSE AND, WHERE POSSIBLE, WITH OTHER DISCIPLINES
- PROVEN AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT
