Giuseppe FENZA Curriculum

Giuseppe Fenza graduated and received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Sciences, both from the University of Salerno, Italy, in 2004 and 2009, respectively. The research activity is concerning Computational Intelligence methods to support semantic-enabled solutions and decision making. He has over 90 publications in Fuzzy Decision Making, Knowledge Extraction and Management, Situation and Context-Awareness, Semantic Information Retrieval, Service Oriented Architecture, Ontology Learning, with over 1500 citations with an h-index of 20 in Scopus (and over 1900 citations with an h-index of 22 in Google Scholar). He used the results of the research works in several application domains, like Medical Diagnosis, Enterprise Knowledge Management, and Social Media Analytics. From 2005, he collaborates in several research initiatives focusing on the objective of knowledge extraction from unstructured data sources and he acquired competences in project management collaborating with several Italian research centers.

From 2009 to 2012, he was deeply involved in the definition of semantic-enabled solutions participating in several research projects as Research and Development Manager for semantic technologies adoption area. In 2013, he founded and worked as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) e Chief Research Officer (CRO) for ThinkGlue LTD (startup company based in London selected in Oxygen Accelerator Programme 2013/2014).

From 2015, he is a scientific advisor for Trovimap PTE. LTD. (registration no. 201400380D) company operating in the area of real-estate advertisement. He is a member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society and IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society. Recently, he is working in the field of Time-aware Knowledge Extraction and Context-aware Decision Support Systems and he is publishing some results in microblog summarization, time-aware collaborative filtering, context-aware group decision making, and so on. He is currently an Assistant Professor in Computer Science at the University of Salerno.

In 2017, he was a co-founder of spin-off named Riatlas srl, a company that operates in the field of e-health and deals with the definition of software solutions to support neurological rehabilitation for patients with brain damage (stroke) and/or neurodegenerative diseases (multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, etc.).

From 2018, he is participating in research initiatives focused in the area of big data analysis and analytics applied to Industry 4.0 and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS): he is involved as a researcher in the project Leonardo 4.0, a national project with a cost of 10M€ founded by Ministry of Education, Universities and Research; he is involved as scientific advisor in a big initiative involving several partners with cost higher than 50M€ founded by ECSEL-IA H2020, named CPS4EU (CPS for EUrope).

From 2018 to 2023 he is an active participant in the task force of the Multidisciplinary Observatory for the Fight against Organised Crime and Terrorism engaged in the realisation of OSINT solutions aimed at identifying sites of counterfeit material, terrorist propaganda, and assessing adverse media levels for products and people.

Since 2023 he has been a member of the Technical Scientific Committee of the SERICS project (Security and Rights in Cyberspace, PE000014) and actively participates in the activities of Spoke 2 "Misinformation and Fakes" for the project coordinated by the University of Salerno (Information Disorder Awareness).

He is currently an Associate Professor in Computer Science at the University of Salerno.
