Milena MASULLO Curriculum
Milena Masullo was born on 30/09/1981, in Salerno (Italy).
October 2005. Graduation in Pharmacy at the University of Salerno, academic degree: summa cum laude.
2005-2009. PhD student in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a project entitled “Chemical investigation of medicinal plants aimed to discovery of metabolites with antiproliferative properties”.
- Visiting scientist at NDDKI of NIH (National Institute of Health, Maryland, USA), where she was involved in the study of different deep-water specimens of marine sponges (Theonella spp.) and in their structural elucidation by using NMR tecniques.
2009-1014. Postdoctoral positions at the University of Salerno
2014-2017. Assistant Professor at University of Salerno.
Since November 2017. Associate Professor (BIO15) University of Salerno.
Scientific activity. Investigation of medicinal and food plants focused to the isolation, structural elucidation of secondary metabolites and evaluation of their biological activities. She has isolated and determined several new compounds belonging to different classes of natural products (terpenoids, steroids, phenylpropanoids, flavonoids, xanthones, naphthopyranones, sesquiterpene coumarin, cardenolides).
She is author of 69 research articles in international peer reviewed journals.
She was involved in scientific collaborations with the research groups of the Ege University (Izmir, Turkey), Yeditepe University (Istanbul, Turkey), Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation (Puławy, Poland) and South Valley University (Aswan, Egypt).
