Fausto ACERNESE Curriculum

Fausto Acernese was born in Avellino, Italy, in 1975.

In 2000 he graduated in Physics with honors from the University of Salerno.

In 2004 he received his PhD in "Seismic Risk" at the University "Federico II" of Naples.

Between 1998 and 2004 he attended the summer school of "Speech Processing, Recognition and Artificial Neural Networks", the summer school of "Parallel Calculation and Optimization" and the specialization course in "Cosmology and Gravitational Physics".

From 2002 to 2008 he won four scholarships and a research grant in the fields of data modeling and analysis, seismic risk assessment, and the development of sensors and environmental monitoring systems.

Since 2/5/2016 he has been an associate professor (Department of Pharmacy) at the University of Salerno where he is a lecturer of Applied Physics, Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Information Systems.

Since 2009 he has been a referee for international scientific journals.

Since 2011 he has been an external referee of regional, national for MIUR and international scientific projects for the Swiss National Science Foundation and for the European Reaserach Council.

Since 2001 prof. Acernese is associated (from 2014 with a research assignment) to the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) and collaborates in the VIRGO project in the field of environmental data analysis and monitoring system.

In 2016 he was awarded the "Special Breackthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics" with the VIRGO / LIGO research group.

In 2016 he was awarded the "Gruber Cosmology Prize" with the VIRGO / LIGO research group.

In 2017 he was awarded the "Murat Medal" with the VIRGO research group of Naples.

prof. Acernese is co-inventor of two international patents and founding partner of an innovative Startup and University Spin-off.

The scientific production includes 342 publications and communications at international conferences with a h-index of 58 (updated to 4/6/2019 - source Web of Science)
