Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE NOTIONS ON THE MAIN PHYSICAL MODELS TO BE APPLIED IN SUBSEQUENT TEACHING COURSES, WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE PRINCIPLES OF THERMODYNAMICS, ELECTROSTATICS AND ELECTRODYNAMICS AND OPTICS AND PROVIDE FUNDAMENTAL CONCEPTS OF MATHEMATICS AND ELEMENTS OF STATISTICS WITH EMPHASIS ON APPLICATIONS.
THE AIM OF THE COURSE IS TO ENABLE THE STUDENT TO SOLVE SIMPLE PROBLEMS AND EXERCISES BY APPLYING THE THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED.

THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD. PHYSICAL QUANTITIES AND SYSTEMS UNIT OF MEASURE. (2 HOURS).
VELOCITY AND ACCELERATION. LINEAR AND BIDIMENSIONAL MOTION. VARIED MOTION (4 HOURS).
PRINCIPLES OF DYNAMICS. GRAVITATIONAL FORCE AND WEIGHT. ELESTIC FORCE. CONSTRAINTS AND FRICTION. WORK. MECHANICAL ENERGY AND ITS CONSERVATION. MOMENTUM AND ITS CONSERVATION. CENTER OF MASS. (8 HOURS).
LIQUIDS AND THEIR PROPERTIES. PRESSURE. LAW OF STEVINO. PRINCIPLE OF ARCHIMEDE, PRINCIPLE OF PASCAL. IDEAL FLUID: EQUATION OF CONTINUITY AND BERNOULII'S EQUATION (8 HOURS).
TEMPERATURE AND HEAT. MECHANISMS OF HEAT TRANSFER (2 HOURS)
Teaching Methods
THE TWO UNITS ARE BASED ON 72 HOURS OF CLASS LECTURES: 48 HOURS OF MATHEMATICS AND 24 OF PHYSICS.
THE TWO UNITS INCLUDE THEORETICAL LECTURES AND PRACTICAL LECTURES (MAINLY BASED ON EXERCISES AND CASE STUDIES).


Verification of learning
THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES OF THE TEACHING IS CERTIFIED BY PASSING AN EXAMINATION WITH AN EVALUATION IN THIRTIETHS (MINIMUM 18/30) HELD IN THE DATES ESTABLISHED BY THE CALENDAR, CONSISTING OF:
1) A WRITTEN TEST INCLUDING THE TWO UNITS, CONSISTING OF.
- 4 MATH QUESTIONS (COMBINATORIAL CALCULUS, ELEMENTS OF GEOMETRY, FUNCTION STUDY, INTEGRAL CALCULUS).
- 30 THEORETICAL PHYSICS QUESTIONS (KINEMATICS AND DYNAMICS OF THE MATERIAL POINT, FLUIDODYNAMICS AND THERMODYNAMICS).
YOU ARE ADMITTED TO THE ORAL TEST IF YOU HAVE SCORED AT LEAST 18/30 IN THE WRITTEN TESTS.
ONLY THE USE OF SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR IS ALLOWED DURING THE WRITTEN TESTS.
2) AN ORAL TEST RELATED TO THE MATHEMATICS MODULE, CONSISTING OF AT LEAST FOUR QUESTIONS.

THE FINAL GRADE IS DEFINED BY CONSIDERING THE MARK OBTAINED IN THE WRITTEN TEST AND THE MARK OBTAINED IN THE ORAL TEST. HONORS WILL BE AWARDED TO THE STUDENT WHO, HAVING OBTAINED A GRADE OF 30/30, HAS SHOWN THE ABILITY TO LEARN AND DEVELOP SOLUTIONS INDEPENDENTLY.
