GENERAL OBJECTIVE THE FRENCH LANGUAGE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE TOOLS FOR STUDYING, UNDERSTANDING AND PRODUCING LANGUAGE IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THE B1 INTERMEDIATE LEVEL OF THE FOUR SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE FOR LANGUAGES. KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION SKILLS THE STUDENT WILL KNOW: - THE MAIN PHONETIC, GRAMMATICAL, LEXICAL AND MORPHO-SYNTACTIC ASPECTS. - THE BASIC VOCABULARY. - THE CORRECT ARRANGEMENT OF THE MAIN FRENCH LANGUAGE STRUCTURES. HE/SHE WILL ALSO UNDERSTAND THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN: - ASPECTS OF FRENCH AND FRENCH-SPEAKING LANGUAGE AND CULTURE. - FRENCH AND ITALIAN LANGUAGE (COMPARATIVE ASPECTS, FALSE FRIENDS WORDS (FAUX-AMIS), CONTRASTIVE ASPECTS). - THE MECHANISMS OF FRENCH WRITTEN AND ORAL LANGUAGE. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: - USE THE FRENCH LANGUAGE TO COMMUNICATE AND INTERACT. - UNDERSTAND AND TRANSLATE SHORT TEXTS FROM FRENCH INTO ITALIAN. - EXAMINE THE CONSTITUENT ELEMENTS OF LINGUISTIC PRODUCTIONS AND IDENTIFY THE MAIN TYPES OF COMMUNICATION (ANNOUNCEMENTS, DOCUMENTS, REGISTRATIONS, WEBSITE HOMEPAGES, FORUMS, MESSAGES, LETTERS, POSTCARDS, FRIENDLY/FORMAL EMAILS, NEWSPAPER HEADLINES, PRESS ARTICLES, PRESENTATIONS, DESCRIPTIONS, PLANS, MAPS, GUIDE EXTRACTS, MENUS, LEAFLETS, BROCHURES, TICKETS, COMIC STRIPS, ADVERTISEMENTS, BIOGRAPHIES, INSTRUCTIONS, SHORT LITERARY EXTRACTS, DICTIONARY ENTRIES). - DEVELOP ORAL COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES AND COMPOSE SHORT WRITTEN TEXTS ON ISSUES OF LANGUAGE AND CIVILISATION. AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: - EVALUATE DIFFERENT TYPES OF EXPRESSION ACCORDING TO THE CONTEXT AND REFLECT ON GENERAL TOPICS OF FRENCH LANGUAGE AND CIVILISATION DEALT WITH DURING LESSONS. - DISCERN DISTINCTIVE LINGUISTIC AND CULTURAL FORMS; WILL HAVE ACQUIRED MASTERY OF STUDY AND SYNTHESIS. - SELECT RELEVANT CONTENT ACCORDING TO THE DIFFERENT DISCOURSE TYPES. - DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO ANALYSE AND REFLECT ON CURRENT TOPICS. COMMUNICATION SKILLS THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: - COMMUNICATE IN FRENCH IN DIFFERENT CONTEXTS - ILLUSTRATE AND SUMMARISE -USING TRADITIONAL MATERIALS AND VIRTUAL TOOLS- RESULTS OF STUDIES OR PERSONAL WORK. ACTIVITIES ARE PROPOSED TO THE STUDENTS IN ORDER TO ARRANGE THE MAIN PHONETIC, LEXICAL, GRAMMATICAL AND MORPHO-SYNTACTIC ASPECTS TO PUT INTO PRACTICE THE FOUR LANGUAGE SKILLS OF FRENCH IN CONTEXT. (ABOUT 35 HOURS) THE LANGUAGE ACQUISITION METHOD CONSISTS OF DEVELOPING SKILLS THAT LEAD STUDENTS TO THE DISCOVERY, CONCEPTUALISATION AND ASSIMILATION OF LINGUISTIC CONTENT IN RELATION TO PRAGMATIC OBJECTIVES. THE EXAM IS AIMED AT EVALUATING THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF THE FRENCH AND FRANCOPHONE LANGUAGE AND CIVILIZATION AND OF THE LINGUISTIC MECHANISMS IN CORRELATION WITH THE PRAGMATIC AND CONTEXTUAL ASPECTS. AT THE END OF THE COURSE, ATTENDING AND NON-ATTENDING STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE THE ORAL EXAM, WHICH INCLUDES: - VERIFICATION OF THE MORPHOSYNTACTIC, GRAMMATICAL AND LEXICAL KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED DURING THE LESSONS THAT REGULATE THE COMMUNICATIVE AND INTERACTIONAL PROCESSES IN FRENCH; - CONVERSATION IN THE LANGUAGE ON THE TOPICS CONTAINED IN THE TEXTBOOKS ADOPTED, THOSE PRESENTED IN THE CLASSROOM AND IN THE LANGUAGE LABORATORIES TO VERIFY THE LEVEL REACHED BY THE STUDENT IN THE ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE; - READING, TRANSLATION, SUMMARY OF TEXTS CONCERNING FRENCH AND FRANCOPHONE CULTURE IN ORDER TO VERIFY THE UNDERSTANDING AND SYNTHESIS SKILLS ACQUIRED BY THE STUDENT.
