GENERAL OBJECTIVE THE WORKSHOP AIMS TO PROVIDE BASIC TOOLS AND SKILLS NECESSARY TO APPROACH THE STUDY OF HISTORY, FROM ANCIENT TIMES TO THE MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY AGE, ALSO THROUGH THE READING OF SOURCES AND HISTORIOGRAPHIC TEXTS. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING BY THE END OF THE WORKSHOP, THE STUDENT WILL HAVE ACQUIRED: •BASIC TOOLS AND SKILLS FOR THE STUDY OF HISTORY; •FAMILIARITY WITH CRITICAL TOOLS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF THE MOST COMMON SOURCES USED IN THE STUDY OF HISTORY; •AN ADEQUATE STUDY METHOD FOR ADDRESSING HISTORICAL ISSUES. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: •PLACE EVENTS IN TIME; •PLACE EVENTS IN SPACE AND USE HISTORICAL CARTOGRAPHY; •ANALYZE SOURCES; •KNOW AND CORRECTLY USE THE SPECIFIC VOCABULARY OF HISTORICAL DISCIPLINES. INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT THE DEVELOPMENT OF INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT WILL BE ENCOURAGED THROUGH THE EXAMINATION OF TEXTS, HELPING STUDENTS TO DEVELOP CRITICAL THINKING AND REFINE THEIR ABILITIES TO JUDGE AND INTERPRET SOURCES. COMMUNICATION SKILLS THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: •PRESENT ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE IN AN ORGANIZED AND LINGUISTICALLY CORRECT MANNER; •INTERACT IN DIFFERENT WORK CONTEXTS; •MEDIATE WITHIN A WORKING GROUP. LEARNING SKILLS THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: •USE TRADITIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHIC TOOLS AND DIGITAL RESOURCES; •CONDUCT RESEARCH, UNDERSTAND, AND INTERPRET TEXTS AND DOCUMENTS; •CONTINUOUSLY UPDATE THEIR KNOWLEDGE USING TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE. |

THE COURSE, LASTING 45 HOURS, IS DIVIDED INTO THREE MODULES OF 15 HOURS EACH, ENTRUSTED TO THREE INSTRUCTORS SPECIALIZING IN ANCIENT HISTORY, MEDIEVAL HISTORY, AND MODERN HISTORY. IT WILL INCLUDE FRONTAL LECTURES AND PRACTICAL EXERCISES ON DOCUMENTATION RELATED TO SOURCES, CARTOGRAPHY, AND HISTORIOGRAPHY. |
