Objectives
THE GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE IS TO PROVIDE THE TOOLS FOR THE ACQUISITION OF KNOWLEDGE OF BIOLOGY, HISTOLOGY, ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY SUCH AS TO ALLOW THE INTERPRETATION OF ALL THE FUNCTIONS OF THE HUMAN BODY FROM THE MICROSCOPIC TO THE MACROSCOPIC LEVEL.
THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS THAT THE STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE DURING THE COURSE ARE:
- THE MAIN STRUCTURES AND FUNCTIONS OF EUKARYOTIC CELLS AND THE MECHANISMS RELATED TO THE CONSERVATION, EXPRESSION AND TRANSMISSION OF GENETIC INFORMATION;
- KNOWLEDGE OF THE STRUCTURES THAT CHARACTERIZE THE SYSTEMS OF THE HUMAN BODY;
KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN FUNCTIONS OF EACH DEVICE.
- ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING - A) ABILITY TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN CELLULAR METABOLIC PROCESSES AND BODY METABOLISM; B) ABILITY TO USE ANATOMICAL TERMINOLOGY APPROPRIATELY; BE ABLE TO DESCRIBE AND DISTINGUISH ANATOMICAL STRUCTURES.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING-
THE TEACHING AIMS TO ENABLE STUDENTS TO ACQUIRE:
- COMPLETE KNOWLEDGE RELATING TO DIFFERENTIATED CELLS AND TO BE ABLE TO ESTABLISH A CORRELATION BETWEEN CELLULAR STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION IN TISSUES AND ORGANS.
- COMPLETE KNOWLEDGE OF THE ORGANIZATION OF THE INDIVIDUAL SYSTEMS OF THE HUMAN BODY, OF THE MICROSCOPIC AND MACROSCOPIC ORGANIZATION OF THE INDIVIDUAL ORGANS WITH THE MAIN TOPOGRAPHIC RELATIONSHIPS AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION OF THE ORGAN.
- THE MAIN NOTIONS ON THE VITAL FUNCTIONS OF MAN, NECESSARY TO UNDERSTAND THE FUNCTIONING OF THE VARIOUS ORGANS AND SYSTEMS, THEIR REGULATORY MECHANISMS AND THE MAIN PROCESSES OF INTEGRATION AND HOMEOSTATIC CONTROL.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING -
AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED ON THE FUNCTION OF TISSUES AND ANATOMICAL STRUCTURES TO RECOGNIZE PHYSIOLOGICAL AND NON-PHYSIOLOGICAL CONDITIONS AND IDENTIFY THE MOST APPROPRIATE RESPONSES WITH PROFESSIONALISM AND COMPETENCE IN THE HEALTHCARE SECTOR.

AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT –
AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
DEVELOP AUTONOMOUS SKILLS IN INTEGRATING THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS LEARNED IN ORDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BODY ORGANS AND THEIR FUNCTION IN PHYSIOLOGICAL AND NON-PHYSIOLOGICAL CONDITIONS.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS –
AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:

IDENTIFY TISSUES AND ANATOMICAL STRUCTURES AND DESCRIBE THEIR FUNCTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS USING THE CORRECT TERMINOLOGY AND BE ABLE TO EXPRESS ONESELF CLEARLY AND WITHOUT AMBIGUITY. HE/SHE MUST BE ABLE TO RELATE TO DOCTORS, COLLEAGUES, OTHER OPERATORS, PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES IN ORDER TO TRANSMIT THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED INDEPENDENTLY AND IN A SPIRIT OF GROUP COLLABORATION IN THE MOST SUITABLE AND EFFECTIVE WAYS.

LEARNING ABILITY -
AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
SELF-EVALUATE YOUR SKILLS, EXPAND YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND UPDATE YOURSELF BY INDEPENDENTLY DRAWING ON TEXTS, SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES AND ONLINE PLATFORMS
Prerequisites
BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF BIOLOGY AS EXPECTED FROM HIGH SCHOOL DEGREE.
