Objectives
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES AND COMPETENCE TO BE ACQUIRED:
LEARNING, THROUGH THE DETAILED ANALYSIS OF THE ELEMENTS OF THE STRUCTURE OF URBAN AND TERRITORIAL SYSTEMS, THE PHENOMENA THAT GOVERN THE PHYSICAL AND FUNCTIONAL TRANSFORMATIONS THAT TAKE PLACE IN THEM AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH TERRITORIAL RISKS. ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO MEASURE AND CONTROL URBAN AND TERRITORIAL PHENOMENA THROUGH THE APPLICATION OF SPATIAL ANALYSIS MODELS AND TECHNIQUES (KERNEL DENSITY, LANDSCAPE ECOLOGY, FRACTAL GEOMETRY) IMPLEMENTED IN OPEN-SOURCE GIS ENVIRONMENT (QGIS). ACQUIRE THE CAPABILITIES OF: CONSTRUCTION OF TERRITORIAL RISK SCENARIOS (SEISMIC, HYDROGEOLOGICAL, FIRE, MAJOR ACCIDENT); DRAFTING OF THE EMERGENCY BOUNDARY CONDITION (CLE).

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING SKILLS:
TO KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THE TERMINOLOGY USED IN THE PHYSICAL AND FUNCTIONAL MODELS OF THE ANALYSIS OF URBAN SYSTEMS AND THEIR INTERACTION WITH THE ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEM.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
KNOW HOW TO APPLY SPATIAL ANALYSIS TECHNIQUES IN THE GIS ENVIRONMENT AND IDENTIFY THE BOUNDARY CONDITION IN EMERGENCY PLANNING.

AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT:
KNOW HOW TO IDENTIFY THE MOST APPROPRIATE METHODS OF ANALYSIS OF AN URBAN SYSTEM AND DEVELOP EMERGENCY PLANNING SOLUTIONS ACCORDING TO THE CONTEXT UNDER CONSIDERATION.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
KNOW HOW TO WORK IN A GROUP AND TO PRESENT ORALLY AND IN WRITING, TEXTUALLY AND GRAPHICALLY, A TOPIC RELATED TO THE TOPICS UNDER DISCUSSION.
ABILITY TO LEARN:
KNOW HOW TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND HOW TO LEARN AUTONOMOUSLY ACCORDING TO THE CONTEXT AND THE EVOLUTION OF KNOWLEDGE.
Prerequisites
PREREQUISITES:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF MATHEMATICS AND REPRESENTATION IS REQUIRED FOR THE SUCCESSFUL ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES SET.

PREPARATORY EXAMS:
DRAWING, CAD, BIM, MATHEMATICS I
Contents
THE COURSE IS DIVIDED INTO 5 MODULES:
THE SYSTEMIC APPROACH; THE KNOWLEDGE SYSTEM; METHODS OF ANALYSIS OF URBAN AND TERRITORIAL SYSTEMS; PLANNING SYSTEM; ENVIRONMENTAL RISK

1)THE SYSTEMIC APPROACH FOR THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TERRITORY. THE LAND USE. THE NETWORKS. THE CONCEPT OF MINIMAL SPACE UNIT: IDENTIFICATION, PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION, FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION, LAND REGULATION (10 HOURS OF FRONTAL LESSON).

2)THE KNOWLEDGE SYSTEM: ORGANIZATION AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF THE TERRITORY;
NOTIONS FOR USING THE QGIS OPEN-SOURCE SOFTWARE (5 HOURS OF FRONTAL LESSON + 5 HOURS OF EXERCISE).

3) METHODS OF ANALYSIS OF URBAN AND TERRITORIAL SYSTEMS: ANALYSIS OF SPATIAL DATA; TECHNIQUES AND MODELS OF THE URBAN SYSTEMS’ ANALYSIS; (5 HOURS OF FRONTAL LESSON + 5 HOURS OF EXERCISE).

4) PLANNING SYSTEM:
CONSTRAINTS; GENERAL PLANS; SPECIALIZED PLANS (5 HOURS OF FRONTAL LESSON)

5) ENVIRONMENTAL RISK: HAZARD, VULNERABILITY, EXPOSURE; THE RISK PREVENTION IN THE URBAN PLANNING TOOLS; METHODOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE ASSESSMENT OF RISK, EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND CIVIL PROTECTION PLAN (15 HOURS OF FRONTAL LESSON + 10 HOURS OF EXERCISE).

Teaching Methods
THE TEACHING THEORY PROVIDES LESSONS (4 CFU) AND EXERCISES IN THE CLASSROOM (2 CFU).
THE EXERCISES INCLUDE CONTENTS OF TEACHING AND PROVIDE THE ACQUISITION OF INSTRUMENTAL SKILLS FOR THE URBAN ANALYSIS.
ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. THE MINIMUM NUMBER OF PRESENCES IS 70%.
Verification of learning
THE ASSESSMENT OF THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE SET OBJECTIVES WILL TAKE PLACE THROUGH AN ORAL TEST AT THE END OF THE COURSE.
IN TEST THE STUDENT MUST DEMONSTRATE THAT HE UNDERSTANDS AND KNOWS HOW TO APPLY THE MAIN CONCEPTS PRESENTED IN THE COURSE.

SPECIFICALLY, IN THE ORAL EXAM, LASTING ABOUT 30 MINUTES, WILL VERIFY THE THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE RELATING TO:
-ANALYZE AND MEASURE THE ELEMENTS OF URBAN AND TERRITORIAL SYSTEMS AND RELATED SPATIAL PHENOMENA. (MODULES 1-2-3).
-KNOWLEDGE OF THE PLANNING SYSTEM
- THE CONSTRUCTION OF TERRITORIAL RISK SCENARIOS. (MODULE 5).
IN ADDITION, DURING THE ORAL EXAM THE STUDENT WILL HAVE TO DEMONSTRATE THE SKILLS ACQUIRED IN THE USE OF THE GIS SOFTWARE, SHOWING, FROM A PRACTICAL POINT OF VIEW, THE RESULTS OF TRAINING ON THE EMERGENCY LIMIT CONDITION.
THE FINAL EVALUATION IS OBTAINED AS A WEIGHTED COMBINATION OF THE THREE PARTS, EACH WITH A 33% INCIDENCE.

THE MINIMUM MARK FOR PASSING THE EXAM IS 18/30, AND IS AWARDED WHEN THE STUDENT SHOWS A LIMITED KNOWLEDGE OF THE TOPICS COVERED DURING THE COURSE;
THE MAXIMUM MARK (30/30) IS AWARDED WHEN THE STUDENT SHOWS A COMPLETE AND IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF THE TOPICS COVERED DURING THE COURSE.
FOR THE PURPOSES OF HONORS, THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA WILL BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT:
- THE QUALITY OF THE EXPOSURE, IN TERMS OF USING APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE;
- THE CROSS-CORRELATION CAPACITY BETWEEN DIFFERENT SUBJECTS OF THE COURSE WITH OTHER DISCIPLINES;
- DEMONSTRATED AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT.
