KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING.
RAW AND DERIVATIVE MATERIALS AND THEIR CHEMICAL-PHYSICAL PROPERTIES: FUELS, WATER, METALS, CERAMIC MATERIALS. PRODUCTION PROCESSES OF FUELS, METALLIC AND POLYMERIC MATERIALS. PROCESSING OF METAL AND CERAMIC MATERIALS.

APPLIED KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING - ENGINEERING ANALYSIS
BEING ABLE TO DEFINE THE MOST APPROPRIATE MATERIAL AND TECHNOLOGY TO USE FOR THE SPECIFIC APPLICATION REQUIRED. CHOICE OF PROCESSES AND TREATMENTS SUITABLE FOR OBTAINING THE PROPERTIES OF THE DESIRED MATERIALS.

APPLIED KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING - ENGINEERING DESIGN
ABILITY TO IDENTIFY AND DESCRIBE THE MATERIALS TO BE USED IN A PROJECT.

INDEPENDENCE OF JUDGMENT - ENGINEERING PRACTICE
READ AND INTERPRET STATE DIAGRAMS OF MATERIALS. KNOWING HOW TO IDENTIFY PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE USE OF DIFFERENT MATERIALS.

FUELS: SOLIDS FUELS. LIQUIDS FUELS. GAS FUELS (THEORY 12H, EX 4H)

TYPES OF ATOMIC BONDING AND THEIR CHARACTERISTICS PROPERTIES. ATOMIC ARRANGEMENT AND CRYSTAL STRUCTURE. IMPERFECTIONS IN SOLIDS (THEORY 4H).

PHASE DIAGRAMS (THEORY 5H, EX 2H)

FABRICATION OF STEEL. FE-C DIAGRAMS. MECHANICAL PROPERTIES. BASIC PRINCIPLES OF HEAT TREATMENTS (THEORY 12H).

CERAMICS AND GLASSES (THEORY 8H).

POLYMERIC MATERIALS (THEORY 4H)
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE CONSISTS IN FRONT LESSONS (50H) AND EXERCISES (10H).
THE COURSE WILL GIVE 6 CFU.
THE EXERCISES ARE LED BY THE TEACHER WITH THE PARTECIPATION OF THE STUDENTS.
ATTENDANCE AT LECTURES IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.
Verification of learning
THE ASSESSMENT OF THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES WILL BE DONE THROUGH A WRITTEN TEST AND AN ORAL INTERVIEW.
THE WRITTEN TEST CONSISTS OF QUESTIONS CONCERNING THE THEORY AND INCLUDES ONE EXERCISE. THE STUDENT PASSES THE WRITTEN EXAM IF HE OR SHE CORRECTLY ANSWERS HALF OF THE EXAM OR IF HE OR SHE ANSWERS SUFFICIENTLY TO ALL QUESTIONS.
THE STUDENT REACHES THE LEVEL OF EXCELLENCE IF HE OR SHE ANSWERS ALL THE QUESTIONS THOROUGHLY. THE ORAL TEST CONSISTS OF AN INTERVIEW WITH QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSION OF THE THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL CONTENT OF THE SUBJECTS OF THE TEACHING PROGRAM AND AIMS TO ASCERTAIN THE LOGICAL-DEDUCTIVE AND SYNTHESIS SKILLS OF THE STUDENT, AND THE ABILITY TO DISCUSS WITH THE APPROPRIATE TERMINOLOGY THE VARIOUS PROPOSED THEMES. THE FINAL MARK IS, GENERALLY, THE AVERAGE OF THE TWO MARKS.
