Objectives
THE INTEGRATED COURSE OF "DENTAL MATERIALS AND ODONTOSTOMATOLOGICAL AND LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIES" IS STRUCTURED IN FOUR INTEGRATED MODULES TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH A CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE PHYSICAL, TECHNOLOGICAL AND APPLICATION FUNDAMENTALS NECESSARY TO UNDERSTAND THE ROLE OF THE MATERIALS AND THE BEHAVIOR MAIN DENTAL TECHNOLOGIES BASED ON THEM, BOTH IN A CLINICAL AND LABORATORY CONTEXT.
AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL HAVE ACQUIRED:
KNOWLEDGE OF THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF BIOMECHANICS AND OF THE PROBLEMS INHERENT TO THE STRUCTURE OF MATTER AND THE PRINCIPLES THAT REGULATE ITS PHYSICAL TRANSFORMATIONS.
KNOWLEDGE OF THE CLINICAL-PROSTHETIC AND LABORATORY MATERIALS AND TECHNOLOGIES CONNECTED TO THE PROCEDURES FOR THE DESIGN, REALIZATION AND APPLICATION OF FIXED, REMOVABLE, IMPLANT PROSTHETIC DEVICES, MADE WITH DIRECT AND INDIRECT METHODS, AND FINALIZED TO THE PROHYLASSISATION.
KNOWLEDGE OF THE DIFFERENT PRODUCT CATEGORIES, INCLUDING THOSE OF PRODUCTS AIMED AT PREVENTION AND ORAL HYGIENE, IN THEIR CLASSIFICATIONS, PHYSICAL, CHEMICAL, BIOLOGICAL AND POSSIBLY AESTHETIC CHARACTERISTICS.
KNOWLEDGE OF THE MECHANISMS UNDERLYING THEIR RATIONAL MANIPULATION, THE OPTIMAL METHODS OF THEIR STORAGE AND THE IMPORTANCE OF THEIR CORRESPONDENCE TO INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS AND DIRECTIVES FOR MEDICAL DEVICES
ABILITY TO SUPPORT CONVERSATIONS ON TOPICS RELATING TO THE FUNDAMENTAL ASPECTS OF THE DISCIPLINE BY MAKING USE OF AN APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC TERMINOLOGY, AND TO THE TOOLS OF MATHEMATICAL AND GRAPHICAL REPRESENTATION OF THE MAIN PHENOMENA DESCRIBED.
Prerequisites
PROPEDEUTICITY AND BARRINGS AS PER ART. 11 OF THE PUBLISHED EDUCATIONAL REGULATION

Teaching Methods
THE COURSE INCLUDES THEORETICAL LESSONS IN THE CLASSROOM WITH THE SUPPORT OF ELECTRONIC PRESENTATIONS AND THEORETICAL-PRACTICAL ACTIVITIES (INCLUDING LABORATORY). DURING THE HOURS OF THEORETICAL-PRACTICAL ACTIVITY THE STUDENT IS PROPOSED TO IMPLEMENT THE NECESSARY MANEUVERS FOR THE USE OF MORE GENERAL MATERIALS IN DENTAL PRACTICE. THE GENERAL METHOD OF SOLVING PROBLEMS PROPOSED CONSISTS IN UNDERSTANDING THE PROBLEM, PLANNING THE SOLUTION, AND FINALLY IN THE SOLUTION. THIS LAST PHASE PROMOTES THE HABIT OF ASSESSING THE REASONABILITY OF THE ANSWER AND VERIFYING CONSISTENCY WITH THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES PRESENTED DURING THE THEORETICAL LESSONS.
FRONTAL TEACHING ACTIVITIES AND EXERCISES WITH OBLIGATION TO ATTEND AS PER ART. 10 OF THE PUBLISHED EDUCATIONAL REGULATIONS.
Verification of learning
THE EXAM TEST IS AIMED AT ASSESSING THE STUDENT'S ABILITY TO HAVE LEARNED THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF THE DIFFERENT DISCIPLINES. THE VOTE, EXPRESSED IN THIRTIES WITH POSSIBLE PRAISE, WILL DEPEND ON THE MATURITY ACQUIRED ON THE CONTENTS OF THE INTEGRATED COURSE. FOR THE PURPOSE OF AWARDING THE PRAISE, THE QUALITY OF THE EXHIBITION WILL BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT, IN TERMS OF THE USE OF APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE AND THE PROVEN AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT.
