GENERAL INFORMATION AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Rita Celano is a researcher with deep experience in analytical and food chemistry applied to chemical profiling of complex matrices, the development of friendly extraction techniques and development of analytical methods for the determination of different contaminants in different food and environmental matrices.
She graduated in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology in 2010 cum laude at the University of Salerno (UNISA, Italy), and in March 2014, she obtained a Ph.D. degree in “Pharmaceutical Sciences” (XII Cycle, NS 2010-2013) from the same institution with a thesis entitled “Development of analytical methodology for determination of emerging contaminants in environment and food”.
She spent some years as a research fellow by working on several research project focusing on the food safety, the valorization of food matrices in terms of nutritional and functional value and the protection and safeguarding of the authenticity of excellence agri-food products.
September 2021 - August 2024 she won the position of Assistant Professor in Food Chemistry (CHIM/10 type B) at University of Salerno, where she conducts research and teaching activities (3 courses) in the context of the food chemistry and the quality and safety of agri.food products.
Since September 2024: Associate Professor in Food Chemistry at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Salerno.
During the research years, she acquired excellent knowledge of mass spectrometry, in particular in tandem (MS/MS) and high resolution (HRMS) mass spectrometry, chromatographic techniques and innovative preparation sample techniques.
SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION
Rita Celano is the author of 49 scientific publications on international peer-reviewed journals and.
She has been Guest Editor of special issues for the following Journals: Molecules (ISSN 1420-3049 - Special issue: Green Procedure for Extraction of Bioactive Compounds in Foods and Agricultural by Products). Antioxidants (ISSN 2076-3921 - Special issue: Natural Antioxidants: Advances and Opportunities for Healthy and Sustainable Food System).
She attended in several scientific congresses (both national and international), three as speaker (CHIMALI 2016; Cagliari, 4-7 Ottobre 2016; EVOO research got talent 2020, Bari 20-22 Gennaio 2020; Massa2022, Carlentini (SR), 20-22 Giugno 2022)
