Objectives | |

STUDENTS WILL LEARN HOW TO EVALUATE, DIAGNOSE AND TREAT THE MOST COMMONLY OBSERVED PSYCHIATRIC, NEUROLOGICAL AND NEUROSURGICAL DISEASES. SPECIFICALLY THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ACQUIRE: •KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN CLINICAL PICTURES OF NEUROLOGICAL, PSYCHIATRIC OR NEUROSURGICAL INTEREST AND UNDERSTANDING OF THEIR EVOLUTION, SO AS TO ENABLE THE ELABORATION AND APPLICATION OF ORIGINAL IDEAS ALSO IN A RESEARCH CONTEXT; •KNOWLEDGE OF THE POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES ON FUNCTIONAL ABILITIES OF MAJOR PSYCHIATRIC, NEUROLOGICAL OR NEUROSURGICAL DISEASES AND UNDERSTANDING OF THEIR LONG-TERM OUTCOME; •ABILITY TO LEARN, UNDERSTAND AND APPLY ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO THE FORMULATION OF DIAGNOSTIC HYPOTHESES AND THERAPEUTIC DESIGNS; •ABILITY TO APPLY ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO CRITERIA FOR CHOOSING PHARMACOLOGICAL, NEUROSURGICAL, OR REHABILITATIVE TREATMENTS FOR SPECIFIC DISEASES •ABILITY TO INTEGRATE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE IN ORDER TO MAKE CLINICAL JUDGMENTS INDEPENDENTLY, INCLUDING REFLECTION ON THE SOCIAL AND ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE APPLICATION OF THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND JUDGMENTS; •ABILITY TO CLEARLY AND UNAMBIGUOUSLY COMMUNICATE THEIR CONCLUSIONS, AS WELL AS THE KNOWLEDGE AND RATIONALE BEHIND THEM, TO SPECIALIST AND NONSPECIALIST INTERLOCUTORS; •LEARNING SKILLS SUCH THAT THEY CAN CONTINUE THEIR STUDY INDEPENDENTLY. |
