Marco LIMONGIELLO Curriculum
I earned my MA cum laude in environmental engineering from “UNISA”, University of Salerno, in 2014, with a dissertation titled “Remote Sensing for the monitoring of debris flow events” whose main objective was the calculation of the volume mobilized for a 2013 event and the generation of a hydraulic forecasting model. The purpose of this research was to assist “The Basin Authority” and “The Major Hazards Authority” in monitoring debris flows events.
In 2018, I achieved the PhD in Civil Engineering (curriculum: "Risk and Sustainability in Civil Engineering Systems, Construction and Environmental" at the University of Salerno). My doctoral research interests regarded mostly the field of archaeological survey, especially in aerial-photogrammetry (by UAV), Terrestrial Laser Scanner and LiDAR (by UAV and Airborne). I presented my preliminary results in a series of international conferences (Metroarcheo; Acta Imeko, ISPRS, ect.).
In September 2018, my doctoral thesis was awarded with a mention of merit at the "Targa Fiore, Unione Italiana Disegno", as one of the best doctoral theses in the disciplinary sector ICAR / 17 (Drawing), and, in 2019, I received the best paper award at the 8th International Workshop 3D-ARCH 2019. Between 2015 and 2018, I participated in some international projects such as: “For a restoration on photogrammetric base of the malecon and the architectural heritage of la habana vieja” (2015), “The Amphitheater of the Abella, from its origins to the digital: architecture, landscape, virtual representation, innovations for knowledge and fruition” (2016) and “From the cloud points of the state of affairs to the 3D representation of project interventions in BIM” (2017). Between 2011 and 2017, I was Guest Resercher at different universities: Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM), Murcia, Spain, for the project: "Ingeniería Geodésica, Fotogrametría y Protección del Patrimonio" (2017, 4 month); Universidad Tecnologica National-Facultad Regional Delta, Campana, Argentina, for the project: "Relevamientos no Convencionales para Aplicaciones en el Camp de Ingeniería catastral e instalaciones Industriales" (2016, 3 month); Universidad Nacional de La Plata, La Plata, Argentina, for the project: "Drawing and structural Analysis", (2011, 3 month).
I am currently a (postdoctoral) research fellow at the University of Salerno. The research topics are the use of UAVs for photogrammetric surveys for the documentation and monitoring of archaeological and urban areas.
