THE COURSE AIMS TO PRESENT THE BASIC CONCEPTS, PROTOCOLS AND ARCHITECTURES OF FUTURE NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURES AND TELECOMMUNICATION SYSTEMS (5G), FROM ULTRA-BROADBAND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES AND THE CLOUDING OF NETWORK ACCESS TO THE SOFTWARIZATION AND VIRTUALIZATION OF ROUTER OPERATIONS. THE COURSE ALSO AIMS TO OFFER AN OVERVIEW OF CURRENT RESEARCH CHALLENGES IN THE CONTEXT OF 5G. |

- INTRODUCTION TO 5G, ULTRA-BAND COMMUNICATIONS AND NOTIONS OF SOFTWARE DEFINED RADIO (SDR). THESE TOPICS WILL BE COVERED IN 3 LESSONS FOR A TOTAL OF 6 HOURS. - DESCRIPTION OF THE BASIC CONCEPTS OF NETWORK MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL VIA SOFTWARE WITH SOFTWARE DEFINED NETWORKS (SDN) AND OPEN FLOW, THE SOFTWARING OF THE EQUIPMENT WITH NETWORK FUNCTION VIRTUALIZATION (NFV) AND THE DIVERSIFICATION OF THE TYPE OF SERVICE QUALITY WITH NETWORK SLICING FOR DEFINITION OF LOGICAL, VIRTUALIZED AND INDEPENDENT NETWORKS ON THE SAME PHYSICAL NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE. THESE TOPICS WILL BE COVERED IN 3 LESSONS FOR A TOTAL OF 6 HOURS. - DESCRIPTION OF THE FUTURE EVOLUTION OF ACCESS NETWORK ARCHITECTURES CREATED USING CLOUD-RAN, WHICH REPRESENTS A CENTRALIZED ARCHITECTURE BASED ON CLOUD COMPUTING FOR RADIO ACCESS NETWORKS, AND MULTI-ACCESS EDGE COMPUTING (MEC) TO PERFORM APPLICATIONS AND RELATED PROCESSING ACTIVITIES CLOSER TO THE CUSTOMER THAN A CELLULAR NETWORK. THESE TOPICS WILL BE COVERED IN A TOTAL OF 2 LESSONS FOR A TOTAL OF 4 HOURS. - PRESENTATION OF CURRENT RESEARCH CHALLENGES IN THE CONTEXT OF 5G TECHNOLOGIES BY INTEGRATING THE USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND BLOCKCHAIN IN ORDER TO GUARANTEE RESILIENCE, PERFORMANCE, EFFICIENCY AND SECURITY.
