Marialaura NOCE Curriculum

Born in Salerno on September 8, 1992.

  • July 2011: High School Diploma from "F. De Sanctis" high school (Salerno).
  • July 2014: Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics cum laude from the University of Salerno. Thesis entitled "On permutation groups".
  • July 2016: Master's Degree in Mathematics cum laude from the University of Salerno. Thesis entitled "The first Grigorchuk group" carried out with an Erasmus+ scholarship at the University of the Basque Country.
  • December 2019: Ph.D. in Mathematics under a joint agreement between the University of Salerno and the University of the Basque Country under the supervision of G.A. Fernández-Alcober, M. Maj, and A. Tortora.
  • January 2020 - July 2020: Researcher at the University of Bath (United Kingdom) under the supervision of G. Traustason.
  • September 2020 - February 2022: Researcher at the University of Göttingen (Germany) under the supervision of L. Bartholdi. February 2022 - June 2023: Research Fellow at the University of Salerno under the supervision of M. Maj.
  • Since June 2023: Researcher (RTD/a) at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Salerno.

She has visited several Mathematics centers (including the University of the Basque Country, University of York, University of Bath, University of Porto, University of Lincoln, Stevens Institute of Technology, City University of New York, MFO "Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach", University of Geneva, University of Seville). She has participated in more than 30 international conferences, including as a plenary speaker and by invitation, and has been a member of the organizing and scientific committees of numerous international conferences and workshops (including GAGTA and Ischia Group Theory). She has taught several doctoral courses, including one funded by the London Mathematical Society and one for the summer school of the University of Brasilia.

Together with other researchers, she is the author of the book Applications of Group Theory in Cryptography: Post-quantum Group-based Cryptography (Mathematical Surveys and Monographs, American Mathematical Society).

She is affiliated with G.N.S.A.G.A. (INdAM) and is a member of UMI. Since 2022, she has been the Italian representative in Europe for the association "European Women in Mathematics". Since 2023, she has been part of the board of the UMI group "Cryptography and Codes".
