OBJECTIVES. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES AND SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED: TO KNOW IN-DEPTH AND TO EXPAND THE STATE-OF-THE-ART ABOUT THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS, EMBANKMENTS, TRENCHES, AND PAVEMENTS. TO ACQUIRE IN DEPTH THE FUNDAMENTALS FOR CORRECTLY DESIGNING THE ROAD INTERSECTIONS, AS WELL AS THE PRINCIPLES FOR DESIGNING RAILWAYS, APRONS AND AIRPORT RUNWAYS. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY OF UNDERSTANDING: TO ACQUIRE A WIDER AND IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS, EMBANKMENTS,TRENCHES, AND PAVEMENTS. TO ACQUIRE IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE FOR DESIGNING ROAD INTERSECTIONS, AS WELL AS THE FUNDAMENTALS FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF RAILWAYS, APRON AND AIRPORT RAINWAYS. TO UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENT PROJECT LEVELS BOTH OF ROADS AND INTERSECTIONS, AS WELL AS OF RAILWAYS AND AIRPORTS. ABILITY OF APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: ABILITY OF UNDERSTANDING THE PROJECT ISSUES OF TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURES WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF LEGISLATION AND ITS UPGRADING, IN PARTICULAR RELATED TO ROADS. ABILITY OF APPLYING THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGES IN THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE DURING THE ENTIRE PROCESS. MAKING JUDGEMENTS: TO MAKE AUTONOMOUS DECISIONS ON MORE APPROPRIATE METHODS FOR A CORRECT DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE; TO PROPOSE CRITERIA OF CHOICE IN RELATION TO REAL CASES. COMUNICATION SKILLS: TO WORK IN DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION GROUPS, AND TO DISCUSS ABOUT THE DECISIONS TO MAKE. LEARNING SKILLS: TO USE THE GAINED KNOWLEDGES FOR APPLICATIONS IN THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS THAT PRESENT CHARACTERISTICS DIFFERENT FROM THOSE OF THE ENVIRONMENT INVESTIGATED. |

THE COURSE INLCLUDES THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL LESSONS. THE NUMBER OF THEORETICAL LESSONS IS 40 WITH 20 HOURS OF PRATICAL APPLICATIONS. THE COURSE PROVIDES: CRITERIA AND METHODS FOR THE DESIGN OF A ROAD ACCORDING TO THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF DESIGN STRATEGY, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT ALSO ROAD SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT (HOURS OF LESSONS 3): UNSIGNALIZED ROAD INTERSECTIONS (HOURS OF LESSONS 3, HOURS OF PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS 2); SIGNALIZED INTERSECTIONS (HOURS OF LESSONS 3, HOURS OF PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS 2); ROUNDABOUTS (HOURS OF LESSONS 3, HOURS OF PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS 2); WEAVING AREA AND TERMINAL RAMPS (HOURS OF LESSONS 3, HOURS OF PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS 2). THE FINAL EXAM IS BASED ON A DISCUSSION, WHICH IS PLANNED AT THE END OF THE TEACHING COURSE, CONCERNING BOTH THEORETICAL SUBJECTS AND THE DESIGN OF THE ROAD AND INTERSECTIONS.THE EXAM IS AT THE END OF TEACHING COURSE AND IT IS BASED ON A SPEECH OF ABOUT 40-50 MINUTES. THE RESULT OF EXAM FORESEES A VOTE RELATED TO THIRTY. FOR GETTING THE FULL MARKS, THE CAPACITY OF TRANSVERSE CORRELATIONS AMONG THE DIFFERENT SUBJECTS OF THE TEACHING COURSE AND/OR OTHER COURSES WILL BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. |
