DESIGNING OF ROAD PAVEMENTS (3 HOURS OF THEORETICAL FRONTAL TEACHING LESSON, 2 HOURS OF PRACTICAL APPLICATION)
APPROACH TO THE STABILITY OF RETAINING WALLS (3 HOURS OF THEORETICAL FRONTAL TEACHING LESSON, 2 HOURS OF PRACTICAL APPLICATION).
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE IS BASED ON 60 HOURS (6 CFU) OF THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL LESSONS. IN PARTICULAR, THE TEACHING COURSE FORESEES 40 HOURS OF THEORETICAL LESSONS (4 CFU) WITH 20 HOURS OF PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS (2 CFU). THE DEVELOPMENT OF A ROAD PROJECT BY GROUPS OF STUDENTS IS ALSO FORESEEN. IN DETAIL, THE COURSE CONSISTS OF:
FRONTAL THEORETICAL LESSONS IN CLASS-ROOM, WHICH WILL ALLOW STUDENTS TO ACQUIRE BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF ROAD ENGINEERING;
IN-CLASS PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS INVOLVING THE DEVELOPMENT OF EXERCISES THAT WILL ENABLE STUDENTS TO WORK ON A ROAD PROJECT;
THE DEVELOPMENT OF A ROAD PROJECT AT HOME WITH INDIVIDUAL CORRECTIONS DURING THE PROFESSOR’S OFFICE HOURS. THE ROAD PROJECT WILL ENABLE STUDENTS TO LEARN HOW TO CORRECTLY REPRESENT THE CHARACTERISTIC ELEMENTS OF ROAD ENGINEERING. FOR THIS PURPOSE, STUDENTS ARE DIVIDED INTO GROUPS OF 2-3 PEOPLE.
THE ATTENDANCE AT THIS COURSE IS COMPULSORY. STUDENTS MUST KEEP AN ATTENDANCE AT LEAST OF 70%. ATTENDANCE IS VERIFIED THROUGH THE ATTENDANCE TRACKING SYSTEMS PROVIDED BY THE UNIVERSITY.
Verification of learning
THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE COURSE OBJECTIVES IS CERTIFIED THROUGH A SINGLE FINAL EXAM, LASTING 30-40 MINUTES, FOLLOWING THE END OF THE COURSE. THIS FINAL EXAMINATION CONSISTS OF AN ORAL TEST ON THE TOPICS COVERED DURING THE COURSE, INCLUDING THE PRESENTATION OF THE ROAD PROJECT. THE FINAL DISCUSSION AIMS TO VERIFY THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ACHIEVED BY THE STUDENT, AS WELL AS TO VERIFY THE ABILITY TO USE APPROPRIATE TERMINOLOGIES.
THE RESULT OF THE FINAL EXAM IS EXPRESSED WITH A MARK OUT OF THIRTY. THE SCORE OF THE ORAL EXAMINATION DEPENDS ON THE DEPTH OF THE ROAD PROJECT AND THE STUDENT'S ABILITY TO CORRECLTY PRESENT THE COURSE CONTENTS AND CRITICALLY DISCUSS THE TOPICS COVERED DURING THE COURSE. THE MINIMUM PASSING GRADE FOR THE FINAL EXAM IS 18/30, WHEN THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES A SUFFICIENT LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT. THE HIGHEST MARK IS 30/30, WHEN THE STUDENT SHOWS AN IN-DEPTH LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT. FOR GETTING THE FULL MARKS (30/30 WITH HONORS) , THE CAPACITY OF TRANSVERSE CORRELATIONS AMONG DIFFERENT SUBJECTS OF THE TEACHING COURSE AND/OR, WHERE POSSIBLE, WITH OTHER COURSES WILL BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT.
