Marco Casazza.

Master Degree in Physics, University of Torino (Oct. 2001). Specialization Doctorate in Health Physics, Environmental curriculum, University of Torino (July 2006). International PhD in Environment, Resources and Sustainable Development, University of Napoli ‘Parthenope’ (January 2020).

National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor, Disciplinary Sector “Applied Physics (to cultural heritage, environment, biology and medicine)” (FIS/07).

Since January 2022. Fixed Term Researcher at the Department of Medicine, Surgery and Dentistry “Scuola Medica Salernitana”, University of Salerno. Currently, teacher of physics for the degrees in physiotherapy (teaching also the biophysical basis of rehabilitation) and in nursery.

Member of the "Center for the Study of the Systemic Dynamics of Complex Diseases" University "Ca’ Foscari" of Venezia and of the “Interdepartmental Research Centre for Urban Studies” (OMERO), University of Torino.

Winner of the selection for the European Funded “ERASMUS+, Training Staff” (year 2023), for an outgoing period at the University of Malta, department of Geosciences. Past winner of the selection for the European funded “ERASMUS, Teaching Staff” (year 2011) for an outgoing period at the University of Koeln, Department of Meteorology and Geophysics.

Previously, post-doctoral research scholar at the Department of Engineering, University of Napoli “Parthenope”, working on the analysis of coupled social and environmental indicators for the implementation of circular economy practices (year 2021) and at the Department of Physics, University of Torino, working on the environmental impact assessment (in particular, with respect to atmospheric pollutants and noise) of a new High Voltage Direct Current trans-border power line (years 2008-2010). For the same project, Marco Casazza covered also the role of scientific vicar responsible.

Marco Casazza received different scholarships within projects in the field of physics applied to the environment, public health and medicine at the following institutions: Department of Sciences and Technologies, University of Napoli “Parthenope”, Napoli; Complex Operative Unit (UOC) Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation, University Hospital “Polyclinic – Vittorio Emanuele”, Catania; Carlo Maria Lerici Foundation (Stockholm, Sweden), for a period of research at KTH, Stockholm (Sweden); Department of Public Health and Microbiology, University of Torino.

Research associated, between years 2005 and 2006, Italian National Research Council – Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (CNR-ISAC), Bologna (Italy).

Between 2004 and 2008, researcher at the spin-off firm Nubila SAS, working in the field of environmental physics. During year 2003, trainee at the Regional Agency for Environmental Protection of the Region Piemonte (ARPA Piemonte), at the noise and vibration laboratory and, later, at the regional industrial hygiene pole.

Marco Casazza was member of the scientific and steering committees, as well as local unit coordinator, for the European funded "WEATHER" (Wind Early Alarm system for Terrestrial transportation), 6th Framework, CRAFT Project (Project Code: CT-2004-512862).

Local operative responsible for the projects: European Space Agency funded project "ICAPS" (Interactions in Cosmic and Atmospheric Particle Systems), for the study of in-cloud aerosol phoretic forces under microgravity conditions; Italian Ministry of University funded project (under PON programme) “RIADE” (Integrated research for the application of innovative technologies and practices for the fighting of desertification), coordinated by the Italian Agency ENEA (dr. Massimo Iannetta); Italian Ministries Council Presidency, National Department of Civil Protection, for the production, installation and operation of a microwave radar network for the observation and characterization of Mt. Etna volcanic ashes.

As researcher, Marco Casazza took part to the following international projects: Bilateral Italy-China project "Analysis on the metabolic process of urban agglomeration and the cooperative strategy of circular economy", funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI); EU-funded project "European Futures for Energy Efficiency" (EUFORIE), Horizon 2020 programme, Grant Agreement No. 649342.

As foreign expert, from year 2015, Marco Casazza cohoperates with the research unit, coordinated by prof. Gengyuan Liu, at the School of Environment, Beijing Normal University (Pechino). There, dr. Casazza was involved in the project “Research on Emissions Collaborative Reduction Policy Tools Based on Industrial Metabolic Network of Urban Agglomeration", funded by the Chinese Academy of Natural Sciences.

Marco Casazza covered the following public professional assignment: General Physics Department, University of Torino, for the project TIPE (year 2010); CNR-ISAC, Bologna, for the design and building of a wood aerosol sampler (year 2004), financed by the Italian Institute for the Safety of Workplaces (ISPESL).

In year 2017, Marco Casazza received, as member of one of the finalist teams, the WEGE Prize finalist award, supported by WEGE Foundation (Grand Rapids, MI, USA), for the research of innovative environmental solutions for the circular management of material resources (in particular, water, energy and food) in cities.

Since year 2013, Marco Casazza is associate editor of “Frontiers in Environmental Science”, sezione Remote Sensing and Environmental Informatics. Since 2022, Associate Editor of “Frontiers in Urban Studies”. Editorial Board Member of “Environmental and Sustainability Indicators” (ELSEVIER).
