THE COURSE OF MEDICAL AND SURGICAL EMERGENCIES AND TERRITORY MEDICINE (1060100058) TAKES PLACE IN THE SECOND SEMESTER OF THE SIXTH YEAR. IT IS DIVIDED INTO SIX 8-ECTS TEACHING MODULES, FOR A TOTAL OF 96 HOURS OF LESSONS, AND TWO PROFESSIONAL TRAINING ACTIVITIES (A.F.P.) MODULES OF 2 CFU, FOR A TOTAL OF 50 HOURS OF INTERNSHIP. THE COURSE AIMS TO ENCOURAGE THE STUDENT TO ACQUIRE THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE REGARDING: KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING - KNOWLEDGE OF THE DECISION-MAKING, DIAGNOSTIC AND DIFFERENTIAL PROCESS OF THE VARIOUS EMERGENCY CONDITIONS - KNOWLEDGE OF THE TREATMENT OF DISEASES AND SYNDROMES THAT COMPROMISE VITAL FUNCTIONS - KNOWLEDGE OF THE VARIOUS DIAGNOSTIC RADIOGRAPHIC METHODS IN URGENCY - KNOWLEDGE OF DRUGS USED IN EMERGENCIES-EMERGENCIES - KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN PRIMARY RESUSCITATION TECHNIQUES ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING - ABILITY TO RECOGNIZE AND RESOLVE URGENT AND EMERGENCY SITUATIONS IN THE MEDICAL AND SURGEON FIELD, IN THE PRE-HOSPITAL AND INTRA-HOSPITAL PHASE - ABILITY TO BE ABLE TO EVALUATE REACTIONS AND BEHAVIORS IN RELATION TO GENDER IN URGENT-EMERGENCY SITUATIONS - ABILITY TO IDENTIFY THE INSTRUMENTAL AND NON-INSTRUMENTAL TESTS NECESSARY FOR A CORRECT DIAGNOSIS - ABILITY TO BASIC INTERPRETATION OF DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING OF VARIOUS TYPES OF PATHOLOGIES - ABILITY TO BE ABLE TO EXPLAIN TO THE PATIENT THE OBJECTIVES OF ANESTHESIA, INDICATIONS AND DRAWBACKS OF GENERAL AND LOCO-REGIONAL ANESTHESIA, - ABILITY TO BE ABLE TO ILLUSTRATE THE MAJOR EMERGENCIES OF GENERAL SURGERY, TRAUMATOLOGY AND INTERNAL MEDICINE |
Prerequisites | |
---|---|
THE COURSE REQUIRES IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF THE ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY OF THE NERVOUS SYSTEM, GENERAL PATHOLOGY AND PHYSIOPATHOLOGY, ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY OF THE MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM. THE STUDENT IS REQUIRED TO PASS THE EXAMS OF GENERAL SURGERY, INTERNAL MEDICINE, DISEASES OF THE RESPIRATORY AND CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM, DISEASES OF THE MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM-PLASTIC SURGERY BEFORE TAKING THE EXAM OF MEDICAL AND SURGICAL EMERGENCIES AND LOCAL MEDICINE. |

Teaching Methods | |
---|---|
THE COURSE IS DIVIDED INTO LECTURES (96 HOURS) AND TRAINING INTERNSHIP (50 HOURS). THE COURSE CONSISTS OF LECTURES, CLINICAL CASES WITH PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING (PBL) (INDEPENDENTLY DEEPENED AND DISCUSSED IN THE CLASSROOM IN SMALL GROUPS), EXERCISES IN INTENSIVE CARE, FIRST AID, OPERATING ROOM, AND IN A SIMULATION LABORATORY. HIGH FEDELITY. |
Verification of learning | |
---|---|
THE EXAM CONSISTS OF SEVERAL ORAL TESTS. EACH ORAL TEST LASTING ABOUT 15 MINUTES WILL VERIFY THE LEVEL OF THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE, THE AUTONOMY OF ANALYSIS AND JUDGMENT, AS WELL AS THE STUDENT'S EXPOSITORY SKILLS. IN PARTICULAR, THE STUDENT'S ABILITY TO ORIENT HIMSELF IN A DIAGNOSTIC-THERAPEUTIC PATH IN FRONT OF THE PRESENTATION OF CLINICAL CASES WILL BE EVALUATED. THE EXAM IS AIMED AT ASSESSING THE STUDENT'S ABILITY TO HAVE LEARNED THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF THE VARIOUS DISCIPLINES. THE MINIMUM SCORE IN THE ORAL EXAM INCLUDES KNOWLEDGE OF THE GENERAL THEMES OF TERRITORIAL EMERGENCIES AND URGENCIES. THE MAXIMUM MARK IS ACHIEVED WHEN THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES THAT HE CAN CORRECTLY ILLUSTRATE AND DISCUSS THE THEMES OF ALL THE MODULES. EXCELLENCE REQUIRES ACHIEVING THE MAXIMUM SCORE IN ALL TESTS AND HAVING DEMONSTRATED EXCELLENT QUALITY OF EXPOSURE, IN TERMS OF THE USE OF APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE AND EXCELLENT AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT. THE FINAL GRADE WILL RESULT FROM THE AVERAGE OF THE SCORES BETWEEN 18 AND 30 OF THE ORAL TESTS. |
