Objectives
THE LABORATORY OBJECTIVE IS TO ACQUIRE BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE USE OF DIGITAL CAD AND GIS TOOLS. AT THE END OF THE TRAINING COURSE THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO USE DIGITAL TOOLS INDEPENDENTLY FOR APPLICATIONS IN AGRICULTURAL SYSTEMS AND PROTECTED AREAS.

THE MAIN KNOWLEDGE WILL BE:
- FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS IN THE OPERATION OF CAD (COMPUTER-AIDED DESIGN) OPEN SOURCE QCAD SOFTWARE;
- FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS IN THE OPERATION OF GIS (GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM) OPEN SOURCE QGIS SOFTWARE;
- FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS OF CAD AND GIS SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE MANAGEMENT OF CULTURAL SYSTEMS.

THE MAIL SKILLS WILL BE:
- CAD APPLICATIONS OF FOR MAKING BASIC MAPS AND OUTPUTS;
- GIS APPLICATIONS FOR MAKING GEOREFERENCED THEMATIC MAPS, RELATIONAL DATABASES AND BASIC GEOSTATISTICS FUNCTIONS;
- APPLICATIONS OF THE LEARNED KNOWLEDGE TO PROCESS, MODIFY AND AUTONOMOUSLY MANAGE CAD AND GIS MAPS WITH PARTICULAR REGARD TO THE MANAGEMENT OF CULTURAL SYSTEMS.
Prerequisites
THERE IS NO FORMAL PROPAEDEUTICITY BUT IT IS RECOMMENDED TO HAVE PASSED THE AGRICULTURE COMPUTER LABORATORY AND ATTENDED THE MATHEMATICS COURSE.

A) UNIT 1: PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION OF CAD SYSTEMS (1.5 ECTS - 18 HOURS)
- CAD SOFTWARE AND ITS MAIN APPLICATIONS;
- STRUCTURE OF THE WORKING AREA (LAYERS, BLOCKS, COORDINATES);
- FUNDAMENTAL DRAWING ENTITIES (POINT, LINE, ARC, CIRCLE, ELLIPSE, SPLINE, POLYLINE);
- DIGITIZING AND EDITING OF FUNDAMENTAL DRAWING ENTITIES;
- HATCHING AND FILLING TOOLS FOR FUNDAMENTAL DRAWING ENTITIES;
- MEASUREMENT TOOLS AND DIMENSIONS OF FUNDAMENTAL DRAWING ENTITIES;
- RASTER MAPS IMPORT AND THEIR DIGITIZING;
- EXAMPLES OF TECHNICAL DRAWING;
- DIMENSIONING AND PRINTING OF TECHNICAL DRAWING OUTPUTS;
- APPLICATION OF THE LEARNED KNOWLEDGE FOR THE CREATION OF A TECHNICAL DRAWING WITH ITS PRINTING OUTPUT.

B) UNIT 2: PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION OF GIS SYSTEMS (1.5 ECTS - 18 HOURS)
- GIS SOFTWARE AND ITS MAIN APPLICATIONS;
- RASTER AND VECTOR DATA;
- DATA GEOREFERENCING;
- SPATIAL ANALYSIS OF GEOREFERENCED DATA;
- THEMATIC MAPS CREATION;
- MANAGEMENT OF THEMATIC MAPS OUTPUTS;
- FINDING OF RASTER AND VECTOR DATA AND THEIR GEOREFERENCING;
- SPATIAL ANALYSIS APPLICATIONS ON BASIC LAYERS;
- CREATION OF THEMATIC MAPS FROM THE BASIC LAYERS;
- CREATION OF RELATIONAL DATABASES AND THEIR QUERY;
- THEMATIC MAPS OUTPUTS MANAGEMENT;
- APPLICATION OF THE LEARNED KNOWLEDGE TO CREATE A LAND USE MAP.
Teaching Methods
- LABORATORY ACTIVITIES WITH THE USE OF OPEN SOURCE CAD AND GIS SOFTWARE;

- INDIVIDUAL AND/OR SMALL GROUP ACTIVITIES IN THE LABORATORY TO APPLY AND CONSOLIDATE THE LEARNED SKILLS.
Verification of learning
THE EVALUATION OF INDIVIDUAL LEARNING CONSISTS OF EXPOSING A PROJECT WORK AND CARRYING OUT AN EXERCISE:

- EVALUATION OF A PROJECT WORK PRODUCED BY THE STUDENT AUTONOMOUSLY AND SUBMITTED TO THE TEACHER BY A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION (THE TOPIC OF THE PROJECT WORK WILL BE AGREED WITH THE TEACHER);

- EVALUATION OF THE LEARNED SKILLS BY CARRYING OUT A CAD AND/OR GIS EXERCISE PROPOSED BY THE TEACHER.

THE LABORATORY IS CONSIDERED "PASSED" IF THE STUDENT HAVE A SUFFICIENT LEVEL OF LEARNED SKILLS.
