Giovannina ALBANO | Curriculum

Laurea cum laude in Mathematics at the University “Federico II” in Naples, Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, she is Full Professor at the University of Salerno.

She is member of the Scientific Commission of the Italian Mathematical Union (UMI).

Her research interests concern the problem of the integration between technology, in particular e-learning, and the research in Mathematics Education.
In this framework, she has been and is:

- President of AIRDM (Italian Association of Research in Mathematics Education) which collects members of the Italian Academic and Scientific Community interested in research in mathematics education, from 2020 on;

- principal investigator of the UMI working group DIGiMATH, collecting experts in mathematics education and experts in other areas of mathematics from 20 Italian university located all around the nation, from 2020 on:

- Principal Investigator of a research project of national interest PRIN 2015 ““Digital Interactive Storytelling in Mathematics: a competence-based social approach”, with excellent evaluation respect to the three criteria (quality of the research project: innovation and methodology;qQuality of the research group, feasibility and adequacy, impact of the project);
- author of many scientific papers published in international journals, proceedings and books;
- scientific coordinator of various Ph.D. theses;

- invited plenary speaker and coordinator of a group plenary “Digital Interactive Storytelling in Mathematics” at the 2022 edition of the Seminario Nazionale di Ricerca in Didattica della Matematica;

- invited plenary speaker and coordinator of a group plenary “The research in e-learning and in mathematics education: integration, experiences and remarks” at the 2013 edition of the Seminario Nazionale di Ricerca in Didattica della Matematica;

- member of the COS N (Organization Committee of the National Seminar) of the AIRDM (Italian association of research in Mathematics Education) from april 2013 on;

- responsible mathematics area of the Polo di Salerno within the Project “I Lincei per una nuova didattica nella scuola: una rete nazionale”, promoted by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei and by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research, from December 2017 on (http://www.linceiscuola.it/salerno/ );

- scientific coordinator or member of various research projects, national and international, among those Centre of Excellence “Methods and systems for learning and knowledge”;
- coordinator of the area Learning & Knowledge of the Consorzio Centro di Eccellenza su Metodi e Sistemi per Aziende Competitive(CEMSAC) from 2003 to the end of 2005;
- key person of the Consorzio Centro di Eccellenza su Metodi e Sistemi per Aziende Competitive(CEMSAC) from 2003 on;
- Italian delegate for the Working Party on Education & Training, IST in FP5.

She has been and is teacher in many courses, both at the University level (Geometry, Geometria Algebra and Logic, Mathematics 0, I, II, III) and post-university level (pre-service teacher training and Ph.D. in Mathematics, MAT/04 e MAT/03, with reference to the use of the technology).
