Objectives
TEACHING AIMS TO PROVIDE THE STUDENT WITH ADVANCED THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE FOR THE SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF YOUTH CULTURES IN CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY.
TEACHING INTENDS, IN ADDITION, TO PROVIDE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP PRACTICAL SKILLS FOR THE CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE TRANSFORMATIONS GOING THROUGH YOUTH CULTURES IN THE DIGITAL SOCIETY.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE COURSE AIMS TO ENSURE:
1) ADVANCED KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN PERSPECTIVES OF ANALYSIS AND KEY CONCEPTS OF THE DISCIPLINE;
2) SPECIFIC EXPERTISE IN FORMULATING ORIGINAL AND INNOVATIVE INTERPRETATIONS FOR THE SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF YOUTH CULTURES IN THE DIGITAL SOCIETY.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE TEACHING ACTIVITY INTENDS TO DEVELOP IN STUDENTS:
1) ABILITY TO APPLY SOCIOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE TO THE ANALYSIS OF YOUTH CULTURES IN ORDER TO GRASP THE DYNAMICS OF TRANSFORMATION TAKING PLACE;
2) ABILITY TO USE THEORETICAL CONCEPTS IN SPECIFIC AND SOPHISTICATED WAYS;
3) ABILITY TO INTEGRATE AVAILABLE INFORMATION AND MANAGE ITS COMPLEXITY;
4) ABILITY TO ELABORATE AND APPLY ORIGINAL IDEAS IN THE ANALYSIS OF THE TRANSFORMATIONS GOING THROUGH YOUTH CULTURES IN THE DIGITAL SOCIETY.

IN THE FIRST PART OF THE COURSE, THE SPECIFIC FIELD OF SOCIOLOGICAL RESEARCH ON YOUNG CULTURES WILL BE RECONSTRUCTED THROUGH THE STUDY OF THE THEORETICAL CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE CHICAGO SCHOOL, KARL MANNHEIM, PARSONS'S STRUCTURAL-FUNCTIONALISM, KENNETH KENISTON, UNTIL THE RESEARCHES OF THE CCCS.

THE SECOND PART WILL BE DEVOTED TO AN ANALYSIS OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MEDIA IMAGINARIES AND YOUTH CULTURES, WITH A PARTICULAR FOCUS ON CONTEMPORARY TELEVISION SERIALITY.
THE THIRD PART OF THE COURSE WILL HOST WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS DEDICATED TO THE DISCUSSION AND ANALYSIS OF EXPERIENCES OF TERRITORIAL REGENERATION THROUGH ARTISTIC AND CULTURAL PROJECTS RELATED TO YOUTH CULTURES.
Teaching Methods
THE TEACHING OF "SOCIOLOGY OF YOUTH CULTURES" INVOLVES A TOTAL OF 72 HOURS OF CLASSROOM TEACHING.
IN THE COURSE OF THE LECTURES, THE PRESENTATION OF TOPICS WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY THE DISCUSSION OF CASE STUDIES AND AUDIOVISUAL SEQUENCES. THE COURSE WILL ALSO HOST WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS ON THE PROGRAM TOPICS, WITH A FOCUS ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN YOUTH CULTURES, TERRITORIAL DEVELOPMENT AND DIGITAL SOCIETY.
Verification of learning
VERIFICATION OF LEARNING WILL BE DONE THROUGH A FINAL ORAL TEST AIMED AT ASSESSING THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ACQUIRED. THE EXAMINATION DOES NOT INCLUDE INTERMEDIATE TESTS.
EXAM DATES ARE SCHEDULED BY THE DEPARTMENT.
THE EVALUATION IS EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS. THE GRADE (MINIMUM 18, MAXIMUM 30 WITH POSSIBLE HONORS) IS AWARDED TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE FOLLOWING DIMENSIONS: THOROUGH KNOWLEDGE OF THE CONTENT, APPROPRIATENESS OF THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL REFERENCES, ABILITY TO PROPOSE COHERENT EXEMPLIFICATIONS, CLARITY OF ARGUMENTATION, AND OWNERSHIP OF LANGUAGE.
