THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE THE STUDENT WITH ADVANCED THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE FOR THE SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF SPORT CULTURES. THE COURSE ALSO INTENDS TO OFFER THE POSSIBILITY OF DEVELOPING THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE LEARNED IN THE MANAGEMENT OF SPORTING AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS. STUDENTS HAVE TO DEMONSTRATE THAT THEY HAVE ACQUIRED AN ADVANCED KNOWLEDGE OF THE KEY CONCEPTS AND ANALYTICAL PERSPECTIVES USEFUL FOR ANALYZING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SPORT AND SOCIETY, AS WELL AS UNDERSTANDING SKILLS THAT ALLOW THEM TO DEVELOP ORIGINAL AND INNOVATIVE INTERPRETATIONS FOR THE SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF SPORT CULTURES. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS. STUDENTS HAVE TO DEMONSTRATE THAT THEY HAVE ACQUIRED THE ABILITY TO APPLY THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND INTEGRATE THE INFORMATION AVAILABLE FOR A CRITICAL INTERPRETATION OF THE SOCIO-CULTURAL PROCESSES LINKED TO SPORT AND ITS PRACTICE, AS WELL AS FOR THE ANALYSIS, PLANNING, ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT OF SERVICES AND FACILITIES FOR SPORT, PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND SOCIAL WELL-BEING. AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT: THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: - MAKE A CONSCIOUS AND INTELLIGENT USE OF KNOWLEDGE, METHODOLOGIES AND INTERVENTION TECHNIQUES, KNOWING HOW TO APPLY THEM AUTONOMOUSLY TO REALITY, IN COHERENCE WITH THE UNDERLYING VALUES THAT GUIDE RESEARCH, PLANNING AND INTERVENTION; - OPERATE, WITH AUTONOMY AND RESPONSIBILITY, IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE STRUCTURES, AS WELL AS TO EXERCISE SPECIALIST CONSULTANCY FUNCTIONS WITH RESPECT TO MOTOR-SPORTS ACTIVITIES FOR SOCIAL WELL-BEING AND IN THE RESOLUTION OF PROBLEMS CONNECTED TO THE FUNCTIONS THEY ARE CALLED TO PERFORM. LEARNING ABILITY: THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: - INDEPENDENTLY DOCUMENT THEMSELVES, SELECTING THE MOST APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTARY SOURCES; - USE TRADITIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHIC TOOLS AND IT RESOURCES FOR ANALYSIS AND ARCHIVING; - CARRY OUT RESEARCH ACTIVITIES, UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET COMPLEX TEXTS, OF A JOURNALISTIC OR SCIENTIFIC NATURE. |

IN THE FIRST PART OF THE COURSE, AFTER HAVING OUTLINED THE MEANING AND USES OF THE CONCEPTS OF "SPORTS CULTURE", THE MAIN CONCEPTS AND THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVES OF THE DISCIPLINE WILL BE PRESENTED. IN THE SECOND PART OF THE COURSE SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TOPICS IN THE CONTEMPORARY DEBATE WILL BE EXPLORED IN DEPTH: SPORT, WELL-BEING, FITNESS; BODY AND REPRESENTATION OF THE SELF; HEALTH PROMOTION; EDUCATION THROUGH SPORT; SPORT AS SOCIAL INCLUSION; SPORTS AND MEDIA, THE MEDIATIZATION OF SPORT; SPORTS AND CONSUMPTION. A SPECIFIC ATTENTION WILL BE PAID TO THE THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVE DEVELOPED BY N. ELIAS, I.E. TO THE ANALYSIS OF THE ROLE PLAYED BY SPORT AND LEISURE IN THE CIVILIZING PROCESS. |

THE COURSE CONSISTS OF 54 HOURS OF FACE TO FACE CLASS INSTRUCTION. DURING LECTURES, THE PRESENTATION OF CONTENTS WILL BE SUPPORTED BY EXAMPLES, CASE STUDY ILLUSTRATIONS AND MEETINGS WITH EXPERTS. |
Verification of learning | |

STUDENTS WILL BE ASSESSED DURING THE FINAL EXAMINATION THAT WILL TAKE PLACE ON THE BASIS OF THE CALENDAR DEFINED BY THE DEPARTMENT. INTERMEDIATE TESTS ARE NOT FORESEEN. THE EXAM CONSISTS OF A FINAL ORAL INTERVIEW, AIMED AT EVALUATING THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS. THE GRADE WILL BE EXPRESSED IN A SCALE RANGING FROM 18 TO 30, WITH POSSIBLE MARKS. THE GRADING IS ATTRIBUTED TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE FOLLOWING DIMENSIONS: KNOWLEDGE OF CONTENTS, ADEQUACY OF THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL REFERENCES, ABILITY TO PROPOSE COHERENT EXEMPLIFICATIONS, CLARITY OF THE ARGUMENT, LANGUAGE PROPERTY. |
