Cristina COPPOLA Curriculum
Graduated cum laude in Mathematics from the University of Salerno, she holds a PhD in Computational and Computer Sciences obtained from the University of Naples Federico II. She is currently affiliated with the Department of Mathematics at the University of Salerno as Associate Professor (academic recruitment field 01/MATH-01 – Mathematical Logic, Mathematics Education and History of Mathematics; scientific disciplinary sector MATH-01/B – Mathematics Education and History of Mathematics).
She holds the Italian National Scientific Qualification (Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale) as Full Professor (First Level) in the academic recruitment field 01/A1 (2021–2023 session).
Previously:
- from 2019 to 2022, she served as Assistant Professor on a fixed-term contract (type B);
- from 2015 to 2019, she served as Assistant Professor on a fixed-term contract (type A);
- she held research fellowships at the Department of Mathematics;
- on November 28, 2014, she obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification for Associate Professor (Second Level) in the academic recruitment field 01/A1 – Mathematical Logic and Complementary Mathematics.
She served as a member of the Italian Commission for Mathematics Education (CIIM), a permanent commission of the Unione Matematica Italiana, during the three-year terms 2021–2024, 2018–2021, and 2015–2018.
From 2017 to 2025, she served as Head of the Mathematics Area of the Salerno “Polo dei Lincei”, within the project “I Lincei per una nuova didattica nella scuola: una rete nazionale”, promoted by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei and the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research.
She is the delegate for student recruitment and orientation for the Department of Mathematics.
Her research interests concern the role of language in mathematics education, non-cognitive aspects with particular attention to teacher education, and the use of technology in mathematics education. She is the author of numerous scientific publications in national and international journals, conference proceedings, and books.
