THE TEACHING IS AIMED AT LEARNING METHODS FOR THE ANALYSIS AND THE DESIGN OF POWER ELECTRONIC CIRCUITS, AND ESPECIALLY DC/DC CONVERTERS, EMPLOYED IN DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS PRODUCING ELECTRICAL ENERGY BY MEANS OF PHOTOVOLTAIC SOURCES. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: METHODS FOR THE ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF THE POWER STAGE AND OF THE CONTROLLER OF CIRCUITS EMPLOYED FOR THE ELECTRICAL MANAGEMENT OF A PHOTOVOLTAIC GENERATOR. METHODS FOR THE SIMULATION OF THE CIRCUITS THEREOF. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: TO BE ABLE TO CHOOSE THE CIRCUIT TOPOLOGY, THE VALUES OF THE CONTROL PARAMETERS AND THE RIGHT COMPONENTS VALUES FOR THE REALIZATION OF A DC/DC CONVERTER AIMED AT PROCESSING THE POWER PRODUCED BY A PHOTOVOLTAIC GENERATOR FOR FEEDING A LOAD, IN PARTICULAR FOR BATTERY CHARGERS. |
Prerequisites | |
---|---|
FOR THE SUCCESSFUL ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES, BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF LINEAR ALGEBRA, MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS (DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS. INTEGRAL CALCULATION, COMPLEX NUMBERS), PHYSICS AND HIGH LEVEL PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE ARE REQUIRED. THE EXAMS STRICTLY FOLLOWS: MATEMATICA 1, FISICA 1 AND FONDAMENTI DI PROGRAMMAZIONE. |

THE COURSE IS DIVIDED INTO LECTURES, CLASSROOM EXERCISES, AND LABORATORY PRACTICES. IN THE COMPUTER EXERCISES, THE STUDENTS PLAY AND ACTIVE PART IN THE SOLUTION OF THE CIRCUIT PROBLEM, SO THAT THEY CAN UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH OF THE CONCEPTS EXPLAINED UP TO THAT MOMENT THEY HAVE UNDERSTOOD, UP TO ACHIEVE A SATISFACTORY LEVEL OF AUTONOMY IN THE RESOLUTION OF THE EXERCISES. IN LABORATORY PRACTICE THE STUDENTS MAKE EXPERIMENTS ON SWITCHING CONVERTERS AND MPPT PV CONTROL BY MEANS OF EDUCATIONAL BOARD. DURING THE LABORATORY PRACTICES THE STUDENTS PLAY AN ACTIVE ROLE IN THE APPLICATION AND VERIFICATION OF THE CONCEPTS AND METHODS LEARNED. 60 HOURS DIVIDED IN: (LECTURES 25H – CLASSROOM EXERCISES 30H - LABORATORY PRACTICES 5H) |

THE EXAM IS AIMED AT EVALUATING: THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE CONCEPTS SHOWN DURING THE COURSE; THE ABILITY OF APPLYING THIS KNOWLEDGE FOR THE ANALYSIS AND THE DESIGN OF DC/DC CONVERTERS FOR PHOTOVOLTAIC APPLICATIONS; INDEPENDENCE OF JUDGMENT, COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND THE ABILITY TO LEARN. THE EXAM CONSISTS OF A SWITCHING CONVERTER DESIGN TEST, WHOSE PURPOSE IS TO ASSESS THE ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE, THE ABILITY IN WRITING ABOUT THE CIRCUIT ANALYSIS, THE INDEPENDENCE OF JUDGMENT, AND AN ORAL INTERVIEW, THE PURPOSE OF WHICH IS TO ASSESS THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO UNDERSTANDING, THE ABILITY TO LEARN, ORAL PRESENTATION. THE DESIGN TEST CONSISTS IN SOLVING ONE PROBLEM CONCERNING THE DESIGN OF A PRE-REGULATOR FOR PHOTOVOLTAIC APPLICATIONS. THE ORAL EXAMINATION STARTS FROM THE DISCUSSION OF THE DESIGN TEST AND WILL COVER ALL THE TOPICS OF THE COURSE AND ASSESSMENT WILL TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE KNOWLEDGE DEMONSTRATED BY THE STUDENT AND THE DEGREE OF ITS DEPTH, PROVEN ABILITY TO LEARN, THE QUALITY OF THE PRESENTATION. IN THE FINAL EVALUATION, EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS, THE EVALUATION OF THE DESIGN TEST WILL ACCOUNT FOR 50% WHILE THE INTERVIEW FOR 50%. THE CUM LAUDE MAY BE GIVEN TO STUDENTS WHO DEMONSTRATE THAT THEY CAN APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE AUTONOMOUSLY EVEN IN CONTEXTS OTHER THAN THOSE PROPOSED IN THE COURSE. |
