Objectives
The course is focused to provide the knowledge and comprehension of methods related to quantitative determination by classical physicochemical and instrumental techniques of both natural and synthetic drugs reported in Italian and European pharmacopoeia as well as those contained in galenical preparations and in the main pharmaceutical entities.
The student applying the acquired skills will be able to choose and apply the most appropriate analytical workflow for the determination of bioactive substances in Italian and European pharmacopoeia and for quality control of health products
Prerequisites
FOR THIS COURSE, IT IS NECESSARY THE ACQUISITION OF THE OBJECTIVES OF: GENERAL AND INORGANIC CHEMISTRY.

MOREOVER, THE ACQUISITION OF BASIC PRINCIPLES OF ANALYTICAL AND ORGANIC CHEMISTRY IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

Teaching Methods
THE COURSE IS MADE OF 120 HOURS OF LESSONS (12 CFU), 48 HOURS OF FRONTAL LESSONS (6 CFU) AND 72 HOURS OF LAB EXPERIENCES (6 CFU).
THE ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. EVERY TWO WEEKS, DURING FRONTAL LESSONS, EXERCISES CONCERNING THE TOPICS DISCUSSED WILL BE PERFORMED.
THE LESSONS ARE MANDATORY, THE FREQUENCY OF AT LEAST 75% OF LABORATORY LESSONS IS REQUIRED FOR THE ACCESS TO THE EXAM.
Verification of learning
THE EXAM CONSINSTS IN TWO DIFFERENT TESTS. THE ACHIEVEMENT OF EACH TEST IS MANDATORY FOR THE NEXT ONE.
THE FIRST IS A WRITTEN TEST COMPOSED BY 5 DIFFERENT ANALYTICAL PROBLEMS OF WHICH AT LEAST THREE HAVE TO BE SOLVED.
THE SECOND TEST IS AN ORAL EXAMINATION OF ABOUT 20 MINUTES WITH THE AIM TO VERIFY THE THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE STUDENT.

THE FINAL MARK WILL TAKE IN ACCOUNT THE RESULTS OF THE WRITTEN AND THE ORAL TESTS.
