Steinhardt Doctoral Dissertation Grant

	Steinhardt Doctoral Dissertation Grant The Doctoral Dissertation Grant competition provides support up to $1,000 for the completion of the dissertation. Doctoral candidates with approved dissertation proposals, and in good academic standing, are invited to apply for the grant to support data collection directly related to their dissertation work. Proposals are judged by a Grant Panel that consists of NYU professors on the basis of their scientific merit and feasibility, and they are scored in order to determine the winner(s).

	The Steinhardt Doctoral Dissertation Grant Panel undertook a review of my application “English Language Learning in Italy: A Study of L2 Motivation, attitudes and Ownership among Italian Youth" and it received a mean score of 3 from a possible scoring range of 1 (highest score) to 9 (lowest score).Based on this score and funding allocations, I received a 2013 Steinhardt Doctoral Dissertation Grant grant.

Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Development Award

	Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Development Award The Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Development Award amounts to $1,550. The Steinhardt School’s Office of Research and Doctoral Studies undertook a peer review of each candidate's Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Development grant proposal to select the recipient(s). The criteria for evaluation are as follows: the extent to which the development work during the summer will lead to a grant submission in the following academic year; significance and potential for advancing the field of study; innovation in area to be studied; well articulated plan for submitting grant for external funding; feasibility of undertaking the project; experience and potential of the project investigator to develop the grant.

Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship Award

	Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship Award The Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) Program, an element of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, places recent college graduates and young professionals as English teaching assistants in schools or universities overseas. The Fulbright ETA Program to Italy is administered by the Italian Fulbright Commission in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) and the US Embassy in Rome. It aims at strengthening English language instruction at Italian high schools by establishing a native-speaker presence to provide part-time assistance for 12-25 teaching hours per week to permanent teaching staff. English Teaching assistants work to improve students' English language abilities and knowledge of the United States' culture. At the same time, they are integrated in the host community and gain from intensive cross-cultural interaction.Fulbright US Student scholarships are awarded through an annual merit-based competition administered in the US at the national level by the Institute of International Education - IIE, in collaboration with the Fulbright Commission in Italy. According to the website (https://us.fulbrightonline.org/about/factors-in-selection), selection is made on the basis of: Quality and feasibility of the proposal as described in the Statement of Grant Purpose; academic or professional record; personal qualifications; language preparation; preference factors as established by the J. The Elaine Goran Newman Memorial Award

	The Elaine Goran Newman Memorial Award The Elaine Goran Newman Memorial Award is awarded to students by the Department of Linguistics and Communication Disorders of Queens College (The City University of New York) in recognition of their superior scholarship.
