KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING DEVELOP A DEEP COMPREHENSION OF COMPETITIVE RESEARCH PROJECT DESIGN PRINCIPLES, INCLUDING FORMULATING CLEAR RESEARCH TITLES, ABSTRACTS, STATE-OF-THE-ART REVIEWS, PROJECT OBJECTIVES, WORK PLAN AND KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS. APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING LEARN TO PLAN AND IMPLEMENT A RESEARCH PROJECT BY APPLYING STRUCTURED APPROACHES, SUCH AS SETTING SMART OBJECTIVES, DESIGNING WORK PACKAGES, CONSTRUCTING GANTT AND PERT DIAGRAMS, AND IMPLEMENTING PROJECT MONITORING TOOLS AND A ROBUST RISK ANALYSIS. MAKING JUDGEMENTS CULTIVATE CRITICAL EVALUATION SKILLS BY LEARNING TO ASSESS RESEARCH PROPOSALS USING CLEARLY DEFINED EVALUATION CRITERIA (EXCELLENCE, IMPLEMENTATION, AND IMPACT) AND IDENTIFYING POTENTIAL RISKS AND MITIGATION STRATEGIES. COMMUNICATION ENHANCE BOTH WRITTEN AND ORAL COMMUNICATION ABILITIES BY PRACTICING THE CLEAR ARTICULATION OF RESEARCH IDEAS, FORMULATING PRECISE PROJECT ABSTRACTS, AND PRESENTING DETAILED PROJECT PLANS AND IMPACT ANALYSES. CASE STUDIES AND EXAMPLES ARE USED TO ANALYZE REAL-LIFE RESEARCH PROJECTS AND EXEMPLARY PROPOSALS TO ILLUSTRATE BEST PRACTICES. STUDENTS IN GROUPS ARE ASKED TO DISCUSS AND CRITICIZE PROJECT IDEAS.
