THE COURSE AIMS TO INTRODUCE THE STUDENT TO INNOVATIVE RESEARCH TOPICS IN THE IOT SECTOR AND TO THE METHODOLOGIES FOR CONDUCTING SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEWS.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

THE STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF RESEARCH ISSUES IN THE FIELD OF IOT. THE STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE THE METHODOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR CARRYING OUT LITERATURE REVIEWS FOR A PARTICULAR RESEARCH TOPIC.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO ANALYZE THE LITERATURE IN THE IOT SECTOR AND APPLY SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW METHODOLOGIES.

MAKING JUDGEMENTS

THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO EVALUATE THE RELEVANCE OF SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES TO A PARTICULAR RESEARCH TOPIC AND TO ORGANIZE THE RESULTS OF THE LITERATURE ANALYSIS WITH RESPECT TO RESEARCH QUESTIONS.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE THE RESULTS OF A LITERATURE ANALYSIS THROUGH A SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE AND AN ORAL PRESENTATION.

LEARNING SKILLS

THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO USE DATABASES OF SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES, UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES, PROCEED WITH THE CONTINUOUS UPDATING OF THEIR KNOWLEDGE, USING TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE.
Prerequisites
STUDENTI MUST HAVEPREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE OF FUNDAMENTALS OF INTERNET OF THINGS, DATA ANALYTICS, DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS, SOFTWARE DEPENDABILITY, AND SECURITY.
Contents
THE CONTENTS OF THE COURSE INCLUDE:
- ENGINEERING DISTRIBUTED IOT SYSTEMS
- IOT STREAM MINING

Teaching Methods
THE COURSE INCLUDES THEMATIC LECTURES PRESENTING AN OVERVIEW OF THE MAIN RESEARCH RESULTS, METHODS, AND TOOLS IN THE FIELD OF INTERNET OF THINGS. INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED RESEARCH LEADERS WILL PARTICIPATE TO THE LECTURES WITH TUTORIALS ON SPECIFIC TOPICS.
Verification of learning
LEARNING ASSESSMENT IS BASED ON AN EXAM WITH GRADES ON A SCALE OF 30.

THE EXAM CONSISTS OF A WRITTEN LITERATURE SURVEY (HOMEWORK) ON ONE OF THE TOPIC OF THE COURSE AND AN ORAL EXAMINATION BASED ON THE DISCUSSION OF THE TOPIC ADDRESSED IN THE SURVEY.

THE EVALUATION IS BASED ON THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
- CLARITY OF THE LITERATURE SURVEY AND DURING THE ORAL PRESENTATION
- BREADTH OF THE OF THE LITERATURE SURVEY
- MASTERY OF THE TOPIC
- CRITICAL ANALYSIS ABILITY
Texts
HANDOUTS OF THE LECTURES.
