Emanuela Zappalà Curriculum
Emanuela Zappalà has been a fixed-term Researcher in "Special Education and Pedagogy" at the Department of Humanities, Philosophy, and Education of the University of Salerno since 1 January 2022, under the terms of Law 240/2010, art. 24, par. 3, letter A.
On 9 June 2023, she obtained the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor in the competition sector 11/D2 "Education, Special Pedagogy, and Educational Research" (11/PAED-02 Educational Research: Didactics, Special Pedagogy, and Experimental Pedagogy).
She graduated with honors in "Pedagogical Sciences" at the University of Macerata and holds a PhD in "Educational Corporeality, Technologies, and Inclusion" from the University of Salerno. From 3 February 2020 to 31 December 2021, she held a research fellowship for the project "Monitoring training pathways to promote the implementation of inclusive teaching models and practices in school settings" (Academic Discipline M-PED/03 – Special Education and Pedagogy), under the supervision of Professor Paola Aiello, at the Department of Humanities, Philosophy, and Education of the University of Salerno.
Following an international research agreement between the Department of Humanities, Philosophy, and Education of the University of Salerno, the Early Days Autism Center (EDAC), and Every Child (Sacramento, CA, USA), she completed a six-month internship at EDAC between 2018 and 2019. During this period, she participated in the activities of the Group-Based Early Start Denver Model (G-ESDM) Teacher Trainer and explored the implementation of the G-ESDM in American preschools, guided by the Active Implementation framework.
Her main research interests focus on special education and pedagogy, particularly for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), teacher training, and the implementation of evidence-based practices.
